does anyone out there play games that are over the 2000pt range? if so how often are games like this played?
one more question to make this thred worth-while. how many points do tournaments usually play?
the reason for these questions is because, as the FNG around here, i noticed the compilation of a tourney list looks quite different than the same army in a friendly battle. please, educate me.
Our club started moving to 2.5k relatively recently - we were getting 1.5k games done by half-way through the meeting, so upped the value. The average sized game tends to be around 1.5k for most, though.Originally Posted by Brother ArgentoTournaments are usually between 1500 and 1850pts.Originally Posted by Brother Argento

Games over 2000 pts have a tendency to become long and a bit too big to handle. It's smoother to keep it at 2000, but if you want to devote a day to the game you could make it a mega battle instead. This takes a lot of time and you should have a break in the middle, but will be really fun since it's a team activity.
2vs2 with 1500-2000 pts each is usually sufficient.
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
My advice is if your playing a game over 3000 Pt's (per army) start the game in a place were you can leave it standing that way you can take breaks and maybe play the game one day at a time.
The biggest game Ive played is a 8000 Pt's game. It contained my entire Space Marine collection against 3 other army's. It took about 3 days in 5 hour periods to finish, but boy was it fun.
The guilty laugh while the innocent suffer.............WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!!
I play 3,000 point games usually. Basically my whole army vs. my friend's whole army. We just sit in his house the whole day for one game heh. We take breaks and whatever for food and while playing we usually are watching tv. We would have a game once a week or so.
>_< argh. Something is wrong with this... I keep on double posting argh.
I used to play games once every couple months, where it would be 3 vs 3, and each would have a 2000pt battle. Of course, we almost never finished because it would take 7-8 hours
One Shot, One Kill
I've only ever played one game of over 2000 points and that was because when I was at school the oragniser of the club had a vendetta against me (I thrashed his 'unbeatable' army too many times than was fair) so he played lots of games of everyone on me (which I didn't mind as I have a average to large SM army).
But now I only play 1500 or less at my local GW vet. night.
this biggest game ive played was 20 players 30,000 points everey player had 1,500 points and it was 8'x30'(we took tables out as we moved forward anyhting tht was on the boards and hadnt moved up was assumed to have dropped out of the assualt) or something it was a massiave chaos force assaulting a imperial held city realli awesome game took all day to play but definetly worth it. ahhh good times lol
Most tournaments are either using scouting forces 500pts roughly or armys of roughly 1500 points and on the rare occasion 2000pts
