Hello, im a kinda new WH40k player, and have some questions regarding Doctrines for my IG Army.
When it says "Any Imperial Guard Infantry unit..."
How much is a unit? is it 1 model, the squad, or even the whole platoon?
Sharpshooters Doctrine; "..can be applied to any Guard Infantry unit.."
Does that mean its only Ifantry troops, and that i cant give it to ex. the guardsmen in my support squads with the lascannons and such?
Special Weapons Squad; Does this refer to a squad where 1 Guardsman have a plasma gun, or are there some weird squad consiting of multiple special weapons, that i have missed?
Thanks in advance, and please bare with my unknowingness, im new after all.
Well, you can find all the answers in your codex.
You will find special weapons squads under hq section of the army list, yes they are weird multiple weapons squads.
What guard infantry units are is stated at the beginning of doctrines section, just a page after the face of colonel Schaeffer.
1) Anything concerning a Guard Infantry unit is answered, I believe, on page 55 of the codex. Just read the page (should be first page of the Doctrines). Each individual "unit" is a squad; i.e., a normal squad of 10, a command squad of 5, they are both considered separate units.
2) Special Weapons squads are special squads that can be attached to your Command Platoon, as detailed in the HQ section of the codex.
Gosh, fast answers, thanks for that.
And also thanks for pointing out the things, and I can see that I really should have noticed it, as i actually read the codex, must be my mind blubbing around from all the baking of christmas cookies!
Ahem, im back again with new questions.
In the description i couldnt find Stormstroopers listed as Guard Infantry, does this mean icant apply Doctrines for my Stormies? (in particular thinking of Sharpshooters)
Thanks in advance.
Yeah well with the stormies, the Sharpshooters doctrine cannot be applied since the Storm troopers are like BS 4.
HOpe this has been helpful, Rob
now that we are on the topic what about ogryns do they count as a guard unit or what???
Well if you were talking about Close Order Drill then I would say no for the Ogryns because (and I"m assuming here) that ogryns are not part of standard infantry platoons or conscripts.
Hope this has been of help, Rob
you should really consider orgyns, otherwise just stick with the close order drill it's pretty good but orgyns look cool and kick butt
FOR THE GREATER GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you dare question tau a point blank rail gun will be aimed at your head...............be warned
Ogryns get killed by mass bolter fire almost as easily as anything else in the Imperial guard, and there pretty expensive and cost a doctrine point.
