Welcome to Librarium Online!
hey everyone, i was losing intrest in my marines, couldnt think of a chapter to do, tried my own but it just wasn workin out. i went on a trip to disney and had a long car ride and alot of boring time in the hotel so i picked up the book Warrior Brood. it was my first real fluff thing outside codex and stuff. anyways i really thought the deathwatch were cool and would be somthing i wanted to do. so i want to make a Deathwatch army. i know that usually there just used as kill teams but i really want to make an army of em, plus it wouldnt be that big,1000-2000 points tops, and i would have to gradually assemble the army cause of lack of money. so can you guys give me any more info on them, and i mean anything rules fluff links tips anything.
anyone play them?
i'll apriciate any help, thanks
to my knowledge Deathwatch doesnt have any official rules, though i could be wrong. fluffwise they're the Ordos Xenos, they hunt down and kill aliens which blight the Emperor's domain (which to the Ordos Xenos is everything) they're SM lent from their chapter to serve in the Deathwatch, and they can be from any Chapter, i've seen them from all the big ones and a hell of a lot of the small ones, so you can go crazy with that, but they wear mostly black, with the right shoulder pad in chapter colors. good luck with the Ordos
This night is wild, so cold and dull, these hearts they race from self control
Carpe Noctem (because Diem is too bright)
Blood Angels Wins:6-Draws:0-Losses:5...apparently i'm doing decently for a guy who randomly charges into certain oblivion
I just finished my deathwatch (10 man) and learned about them from the #305 White dwarf. since i play Ultramarines the captian i used is also a an Ultramarineas my captian i also used 2 dark angels in thier robes but black armour.. just remember use warlock purple for theie bolter casings and blotgun metal for their entire left arm also you need to order the shoulder pads from GW. i dont have much experiance with using them because i have only used them once against orks
ill have to get that white dwarf, i know about the xenos, and all the armor stuff from the book i read, any other good books with info in them?
Index Astartes II includes a section called "Purge The Unclean" which is about the GreyKnights and Deathwatch chapters.
As to rules for Deathwatch, there are only rules for deploying a single squad of them in a normal Imperium army. There are no actual rules for fielding a whole deathwatch army, but GW are developing a Codexeno Hunters which should cover this. As of yet there are no dates for hen Xeno-Hunters will be released.
A "Deathwatch" army will be out whenever games workshop decides to put out the ordo xenos codex.
He's coming for you...
i'd lean to 2007-8 for that xeno hunters codex. they got plenty of other stuff to catch up on first before they release another entirely new marine chapter.. (tau, eldar, orks, dark angels, etc)
"One thing that intrigues people to fantasy is how different it is from reality. Make sure you remember that difference, and you'll have a wonderful time."
An easy way to make a Deathwatch army before Codexenohunters comes out is to make a regular space marine army with 'Trust your battlebrother' and use a DW kill team as your HQ. You can add inquisitors from C:WH/DH with renamed wargear (if necessary) to represent Ordo Xenos inquisitors and specialist troops.
The best way, IMO, to make marines with true grit is to buy the Blood Claws box and order the DW shoulderpads and bolters separately. It's a little more expensive than just ordering the DW box but they look better with proper close combat weapons IMO
You probably want to buy a few commander or command squad boxes as well to get decorations. Another option is the Black Templars crusader box, but then you'll have chains on the weapons.
The second or third Eisenhorn book features some DW marines, but not a whole lot really. Read them anyway
