I have just went out to buy the deathwing book and yes i know what your saying, urcrazy you went to the stores a day before christmas yor crazy but yes. Anyway and i was looking at the deathwing points and there 47 pts and i had the same problem with points when i went to make a black templar list when they had released the new sm codex. Do i use the deathwing points or the termy points from the sm codex because there more up to date? Also what about point cost for items like powerfists and other things like that?
To do the bidding of the god of decay death and corruption is to be rid of all things that makes you weak only in return for the control of your soul!
Use the normal marine codex, and use the FAQ from GW's website along with it. It comes down to deathwing termies costing 45 points...
"I have died a thousand deaths, and I will die a million more..."
to field a Deathwing army, you need the following.
4th Edition Space Marmie Codex
3rd Edition Dark Angels Codex
4th Edition DA FAQ (that The_Outsider linked to)
when you have all three of those you will be able to work out how many points each model is.
You could just use a traited space marine army to achieve pretty much the same thing as a DW army. Take two tactical squads with veteran skills (from traits) and paint them as 1st company veterans and then fill out the rest of the points with terminators and dreadnoughts (who are heavy support with another trait). It saves you a few codices and a lot of headaches
When the new Codex: Dark Angels comes out (possibly as soon as next year, or not) you can always change to use the new DW rules.
