Yes they can, there's nothing saying they can't, their traits don't forbid it.

No....you play Space Marines not Imperial Guard!

(Note to any loud mouthed Chaos IW players: Sshhh ).

There's plenty of ways to crack a basilisk - Scouts, Bike Squads, Deep Striking Assault Squads, Deep Striking Terminators...

And don't forget if you get within 36 inches of a Basilisk she can't hit you. Realistically, be proud of the army you play, or just go play Imperial Guard.

You could convert the marines from the battle for Maccragge set into chaos marines, and paint them silver or whatever for Iron Warriors, or you could not convert them, and just paint them silver, and have Iron Hands. Remember, there are two different 'Iron' chapters, the Iron Warriors, which are chaos, and Iron Hands, which are not chaos. The Iron Warriors, the chaos ones, are the ones who can field a basilisk. They also have 4 heavy support choices. (or can, if you opt to).

But, if you are going to convert regular space marines into chaos marines, all you really have to do, is maybe put some battle damage on their armor, cut some spikes out of the sprue (the thing the parts come on), and glue them on, so you have beat up spikey marines. Easy enough.

If your playing IH's from the new SM codex the only things that change for them is their traits (Scions and Heed the Wisdom I believe). The only limits on your selections are those dictated by that. I believe they also have eye to eye right...

Basilisks can still hit you at less than 36 inch range with direct fire, but if it comes out of its hiding place to get line of sight you can nuke it with a lascannon or krak missile pretty easily.

Ok, in this picture, there is the marine parts, you see? then, there is all of the junk plastic around it, that you just throw away when you get done cutting them or pulling them out, that stuff is called sprue. I think GW may call it something else, but it is generally called sprue, or flash.
