I was just wondering if anyone could help me out i had a guard army but it didnt work to well so now im deciding over either a imperial fist army or a Black templar army which of these would be better in everyone elses opinion? Are the imperial fists any good with captain lysander? Feedback please:yes: Thanks
When the Imperial fists use Lysander they make the deathwing look like babies, his special rules for terminators are awesome, but only worth it if you use terminators.
IP vs BT?
Well Imperial Fists are a codex chapter so they have no particular traits and are as balanced as any 'standard' SM army.
Black Templars are very close combat orientated so they have little in the way of heavy support compared to other chapters. Their CC skills are second to none and have some powerful gear, but they do suffer a lot against shooty armies (especially if their transports get destroyed).
The short answer is if you want a balanced to shooty army go for Imperial Fists, if you want a CC army go for Templars.
Hope this helps.

I play Imperial Fists and I agree with the above but there is one think to watch out for with the Imperial Fists is there Disadvantage may mean your opponant my get an extra turn to do thier objectives but if you what your troops to have Tank hunter then it might not be to bad but I only use it on ma devestators.
Yes people i know that my spelling and punctuation is awful but I am product of British teaching pollicies so what can I do about it?
Thanks i think i will look more to starting an imperial fist army.
Yellow is THE hardest colour to paint well, if you get a good technique its fine, but BT are alot easier to paint...i mean spray.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
if your gonna paint the IF then you can better consider spraying your models with a white undercoat because black takes way to many layers of yellow paint to be effective.
I once painted captain Lysander and I needed about 5 layers of normal yellow to have a nice colour not mentioning the highlights needed after that.
Don´t mess with the dicegod
My chapter colors are black/white as well. I've found that yes, it's very easy to paint (spray) but it's very hard to make them look good. That is, they're all black (well, with a little white trim) but you can't see ANY detail at all. So then you have to build up highlights. I've found painting black to be challenging.Originally Posted by Wings of Doom
Not that yellow wouldn't be hard, too, I'm just sayin'.
Ok then.. maybe BT will be better because im not that great at painting and i could work with black lol
Color doesnt matter, pick rules you like, and paint them how ever you darn well please, its legal so long as you A) make up a story as to why your army is painted that color, or Claim to be a successor chapter from the one your using rules from.
Example, Pink Dark Angles.
Or my black Dark Angels, voilá, the Angels of Retribution (which kicks ass).
But I think an Imperial Fist army could be more rewarding since they are a lot rarer than BT.
