well i need to know if this would prve to be a good idea for my future army list i am useing iron hands
hq is my techmarine
3 whrilwinds 1 with the cattlin missles
3 dreadnoughts all mounted with twin linked auto cannons and missle luanchers
2 tact squades with rocket luanchers and plasma guns
4 gun servetors
2 landspeeder typhoons
now i wanna play defecive let them come to me on my terms and always have my guys in range of my wheril winds
so wutcha think of this idea
I think your ****ed if they get to you fast, like a tyranid or de army does. But othere than that your fine i think.

Ok well Space Marine dreadnoughts cannot have auto-cannons,you might have mistaken them for assault cannons.
Ok the whirlwinds are nice and they are very effective in a defensive army.But against armies with power armour or lots or 3+ saves you willhave some trouble seeing as the whirlwinds missiles are on ap4 therefore they still get their 3+ armour so you will have a hard time with that.
Instead maybe only have 1 whirlwind and have a 8 man devastator squad with 4 missile launchers.This squad is very versatile and is extremly effective in a defensive army,which you are going for.
You also lack heavy weapons and anti armour weapons.If you are up against a vechile heavy army,especially an assaulty army with lots of transports you will be stuffed.
The land speeders are agood idea but i think the tornados equipped with assault cannons and heavy bolters would be alot better of an idea.
Mostly what you have described is a lay back and shoot army, I have to agree you will be messed up if they get into CC range fast. With that said, I'd change that list a bit.
Drop one whirlwind and add a Dev squad with 4 missle launchers or a Vindicator.
Add at least 1 Assault squad for a counter assualt unit.
Give your HQ a Razorback with TLLC for some Monstrous Creature/anti tank power. But be prepared for it to go away fast unless you give your opponents something else to worry about (note the Vindicator will fill that nitch quite nicely).
Last but by no means least what were you going to outfit the Gun servitors with?

ya i was thinking of droping 1 whirlwind for a Vindicator maybe ill do that
i was thinking heavy bolters anny oather ideas
and check out forge wold for dreadnoguht autocannons

um dreads i donno about realy iam looking for range in thow
i need something to deal with anti armor and i worried about a basklis takeing me appart at range
well i cant compain at least you guys are giveing it to me stright up i will rpbly play mine start thow
i think the 2 wril winds are great for suooprt + there inderict fire
but iam worried about ig with a mass amout of tanks so i need some anti armor
