I would like to hear some of your guys ideas on different doctrines that you could think of. These should be be balanced doctrines, nothing crazy or unrealistic. I'll start it off:
Expertly trained gunners- Any of your guardsmen carrying a plasma gun may re-roll any to-hit roll of 1, negating the over-heat rule of the plasma weapon. Any re-rolled to-hit rolls must accept the second outcome. If the second roll is a 1, the weapon succumbs to the overheat special rule. The drawback to this careful handling of the plasma weaponry is that any expertly trained guardsmen may not rapid-fire with their plasma guns as they find it more important to ease on the side of caution than to fire rapidly.
Lets hear your guys ideas!
Engineer Corp. Your army is part of an elite engineer batallion, each platoon command has the option to give one demoliton charge to a veteran. Limit one per platoon
I already came up with my own Doctrine ages ago, called (Imperial Guard Doctrine: Hovercraft Squadrons)Doctrine: Hovercraft Squadrons. Check it out.
Whoa that's a real nice idea of the hover craft squadrons, however I was just wondering, for something inflatable do you really think the AV would be 11,10,10 ? Lol, good job anyway!
Trained forward observers : 10 pts
Any indirect fire weapon (mortars, basilisks, earthshaker platforms) can use the line of sight of any command section equipped with this doctrine + vox caster.
I like this one. The only thing I would change would be the points cost, it should probably be more like 15-20 pts. This would be a pretty effective doctrine though, good job.Originally Posted by Hermann Morr
How about this for an Idea.
Name: Rare Armour
Each Regiment can take up to 1 tank from the imperial gaurd armoured company list as a heavy support choice.
Now each regiment can add some unique puch to their heavy support!
"From this day to the ending of the world..InquisitorLordReiss
How many Inquisitors does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Three,
one to screw it in, one to outlaw lightbulbs, and one to deny lightbulbs ever existed.
We in it shall be remembered...
We band of brothers."
Yeah that would definitely add some variation to the guard army lists.
Alternate Regimental Organization:
For every infantry platoon you can have a Commisioned Tank. A commisioned tank is either a Leman Russ or a Basilisk, and is taken at the following prices: Russ=190pts; Basilisk=150pts.(prices dont include added weapons, wargear, or options)
Each Commisioned Tank takes up one troop slot, and Commisioned Tanks can tak eall the wepaons and wargear they would normally have.
Well, I like my guardsmen to be WW II Russian style, so here's one.
In addition to any unit that may ride inside a tank, a second squad may hitch a ride on the exterior of the tank. So a chimera could carry two squads(1 inside, 1 on top) and a Leman Russ could carry one.
These do NOT count as being in cover, no matter which side of the tank they are on. Riding on top of a tank is not safe. As well, due to their elevated position, they can be shot at by any unit that can see the tank. So the unit is more vulnerable to shooting while they are on top of the tank.
However, they get the advantage of added movement, and if the tank is charged, the guardsmen on top may accept the charge instead of the tank. In addition, the unit can charge from the tank as if it were open topped. If you felt it necessary to charge with guard...
May NOT be combined with any other doctrine on the squad in question, or with any unit other than a standard infantry squad as you don't let elite troops do something as dangerous as ride on top of a tank.
