Buddy of mine is telling me after he gets one he is going to beat up my army.
Is it *that* good of a unit?
Well, what army do you play?
This message brought to you by The Council of People Who Are Sick Of Seeing More People.
If you play marines, it's good. if you play any close combat army it's good. if you play anything with a 3+ save, it's good. If you play a shooty army its good.
It's just good, period.
Unless you play Tau and have 9 broadsides.
Armour 14 on the front, 12 on the sides, 10 on the back. Its weapon puts down a Str8 AP3 ordnance balst that kills marines on a 2 with no save and uses the large blast template. Yeah, its good.Originally Posted by Predanuke

yeah the russ is a all around great tank good front armor and decent side and rear armor it is a good tank but as mentioned exept for use against tau
Basalisks are, in my opinion, a greater threat than a russ. Two basalisks will cover the entire table, and place a pie plate anywhere, anytime. Even the indirect fire minimum range doesen't matter, because with one in each corner, the fire across the table and cover each other. Even better, they can hide in cover and never get shot during the entire game.
Still only AP3, Alcibiades. In my experience they are usualy too vulnerable and innacurate to be of great effect, and the minimum range of indirect fire is too much of a hinderence, enemies see a Basalisk on the table and run forward a few inches so you need to come out of cover.Originally Posted by Alcibiades
Given the choice I would go for a Russ every time.
Basilisks might be effective as a compliment to a russ, but I don't think they should be your only tanks.
well i do umm play tau....
when we played last weekend i kinda decimated his army with the railheads submuntion pie plate blast.
we are both still new to this game so it takes us along time to play checking the rules before every move.
it was a 1000 pt battle.
10 rough riders
chimera + troops
and i think 2 HQ.
I had to
2 devilfish +12 firewarriors each
he said he can put a tank in there and still have the same army buy removing some of the options from his troops.
so i'm not too sure what its abilities are or how worried i should be.
2 railhead tanks are going to destroy his leman russ. When playing against tau, it's often better to leave all tanks but the basilisk at home, you'll just break them with your railguns.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
Heh....in my armoured company I have 10 of them
