Hey I wanted to see if anyone uses alternate ways of arming a canoness than the blessed weapon, cloak, jump pack combo.
2000pts Orks 4-2-1
Im sure someone will tell you this post is already somewhere. Anyways how about a:
Power weapon, Jump pack and Cloak combo....only joking
Well, you could try an evicerator, as the cannoness will strike last or at the same time most the time. Or you could go more shooty and give her something like a Combi-flamer and place her in a celestian squad. Or you could be really brave and just give her a master-crafted bolter with sarissa......though i wouldn't try it personally :shifty:
The reason why everyone equips her as such is pretty easy, really...Originally Posted by gen.nehring

i go Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Jump Pack...
but i don't field her too oft.

"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women"
"JESUS SAVES! the rest of your models each take a wound."
I often field a Canoness in a transport with a Celestian retinue, although she still has the BW, Cloak etc. I find it good at locking horns with large or powerful enemy squads, especially if I bring in Seraphim or another JP Canoness to help. In this way I can beat up an otherwise too strong unit and/or keep it locked in CC. Such a squad needs to be handled carefully, you need to position it to engage in assaults in place of your Battle squads so they can carry on shooting at close range. It can defeat most non-assaulty squads and give a hard time to even assaulty ones, while being surprisingly cheap.
I don;t use celestians often so i end up placing her in a chimera with the storm troopers. As lame as it might souind it still gets her places etc
If i can't give her a transport well, simple jump pack will have to do.
But what ever i give her i make sure she never exceeds 110pts.
Bravely enough, I'm giving a fair deal of consideration to just giving her a bolter. I'm looking at this from the angle of using SoB as an allied force, however. I mostly just want some extra bolter fire, and the heroine is a good way to get some extra faith points. I don't know if they're 0-1 units, however if you can take two heroines, I don't see anything wrong with equipping one this way if you have the slot open.
If I'm planning on using her for assault she gets close to the standard, though I may add a Rosarius if I don't have oodles of Faith in my army so I don't have to spend them to give her an invulnerable save every phase.
When I induct a lot of IG, however, I often just give her a bolt pistol, CCW, and a Book of St. Lucius. Her purpose is to keep the troopers from running with the Book (don't want that lascannon moving!), and add faith points for the main combat girls like my Seraphim to use. Though I may sometimes give a powerweapon here too for some counter-assault.
In 500-ish games, I tend to use a basic Cannoness or even a Palatine and spend the points on more troops instead.
just as aside note, eviscerator and jump pack canoness' look to be the go to unit against tau. Quite nice insta-killing those 4 wound shas'os

I saw one guy going for a more shooty WH force elsewhere, he had lots of Storm Bolters and normal Bolters, but he had this short range shooting and close combat oriented Canoness, I told him to take Storm Bolter on her too, and with a Bokk of st. Lusius she can help the other squads stand strong.
