as i always call upon you guys out there for your knowledge
i always state i'm new to W40k so until i play a game i'm new!
well at the moment i'm still constructing my army and i'm up to my chaplain
as i've read in previous posts alot of people suggest a jump pack for these guys
so i was wondering if i gave him a jump pack does he need to be attached to an assault squad?? or will he still be able to be used independently???
i know it's probably a simple answer but i've been reading to rules. codex and how to paint space marine books all at once so its probably gone right by me.
He still does get to be used independently.
He still remains an Independent Character - you can attach him to an Assault Squad if you want.
He can be attached to mostly any other squad, too, but a unit moves at the pace of the slowest model, so he'd have to move as if a normal infantry.
He can fly around on his own, yes indeed.
But you'll have more use of his special rules when attached to an assault squad.
However, I used a Dark Angels list a while ago with a flying Chaplain as my HQ to counter assault units and such while I shot the crap out of my enemy.
Edit: Hehe, nice post, Nemesis. ^_^
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
the idea with the jump pack chappie is to give his re-roll abilities to your assault squads. basically mimicing a jump pack chappie in the blood angels army
Pictures of the Smigs Army for your amusement....
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women"
"JESUS SAVES! the rest of your models each take a wound."
Not quite... lol. Death Company are far nastier than your basic assault marine, with their extra attack, feel no pain ability and such.Originally Posted by Holy_Smigs
Blood Angels can take a Sanguinary High Priest, which does basically the same thing as a Chaplain. I've been thinking about putting one of these in one of my assault squads, just to see how much it would help, but I haven't got around to actually doing it yet.
