Are these krak grenades? I say they are, but a few of my other friends say otherwise. I am no real weapons brainer, and just wondering if am right, when it comes to WYSIWYG
I don't think it really matters, even for WYSIWYG. A grenade by any other name is still a grenade and you can represent it as a grenade. Hell, I even represent Melta Bombs using Grenades (even though I probably shouldn't) :tongue;
I don't think it's been made clear exactly what each grenade looks like. I would guess that they'd look pretty similar (we're only seeing the packaging- not the action). Any grenades on some figures in a squad is usually enough to qualify a squad as wysiwyg. If the people are really, REALLY pedantic then you could paint the grenades with different colours to tell them apart. The only one that is really different is the melta bomb and you only need one guy in the squad to represent that.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
I am far from sure, but it looks like krak. Although I would except one or the other (heck even both) even if really strict about WYSIWYG... A good resource could be the 'new' Wargear book from GW...:shifty:

As mentioned it really doesn't matter whats what but those are technically Krak yes. The Frag are the more traditional looking grenades and the melta bombs are the big one's with a handle. Which you model onto your models really isn't a big deal though as they all are grenades and thus fulfil WYSIWYG.
Nevermore Chapter: 6200 pts; 97/49/11; Longest Streak: 9 Wins/4 Losses; Nearing Completion
As has been mentioned, grenades are not counted for wysiwig. You don't even need to have any grenades on any model in the squad to be able to give them grenades or melta bombs. If you do want to go for pedantry though, Frags and Kraks are both smaller than Melta Bombs, and Frags have crosshatched etching and are slightly smaller than Kraks. Melta Bombs are identical to the fuel tanks on Melta Weapons, with the addition of a large, obvious handle.
The ones in your picture are Kraks.

THE FIRST TIME I saw the grenades i knew they were krak and i have been painting them red since first put them on
Haha alright, gotta tell this to the rules nazi friends of mine. Thanks mucho.
Im pretty sure you need a grenade on the model if it has grenades its just, any type of grenade is ok. Simply Because when GW worked in mostly melta models, its tough to play WYSIWUG, excepting every HQ to take krak frag melta grendades, so as long as the model has a grenade, it can be what ever type you want it to be. At least thats my understanding.
It's a big pic for something so minor, but heck.
anyways, check out the parts where your looking from the side, I got 2 Grenade types on teh Backpacks, the top one is a Krack while the Bottom Ones are Frag IMO.
I'd still models grendaes even if I don't have to, as then you can do some cool poses!
