Since the only available transports to our SoB´s are either rhinos or Immolators and these get shot rather quickly, I would like to ask should the Sisters of Battle get another kind of transportation?

    Options:

    1. Razorback

    - not to cheap
    - nice weapon combo (Lasercannon and sync. Plasmacanons)
    - only 6 models fit in
    - same armor like the rhino

    2. Landraider

    - very expensive
    - very good firepower
    - 10 models fit in
    - Best armor on all fire arcs

    3. New model?

    - how expensive
    - what firepower
    - how many models transported
    - what armor

Another kind of transport would give the sisters some more longrange firepower but wouldn´t make them a stand and shoot army because the razorback is taken out as easy as the rhino.

The Landraider offers good firepower and enough quality to actually deliver the SoB into the combat zone where they could be devastating with short to medium ranged weapons. Could be cheesy however if Troops choice could be transported with them.

    So what do you think?

a razerback for the sistes? the allready have that, its the immolator. Even cost the same number of points. Why its a heavy support instead of a transport just confounds me. I would like to see the immolater as a transport. Hell maybe then there would be more immolators deployed!

Yeah, the Immolator is some kind of variation of the razorback. That´s true, but from the post I read here, I see always the same problem. Lack of Range and speed. So the Razorback could give some longrange firepower to start off but suffers the same penalty as the rhino. Weak armor. One lascannon shot and it is probably a smoking wreck. Immolators are great and can be used to transport HQ´s and heavy support squads but the twinflamer is again short ranged. :-/

New transports just ain't gonna happen. If you look at the trial vehicle rules, you can see that they're getting away from the "everybody rides" mentality -- automatic pinning if you bail out; no assault on the turn you disembark, etc. Add to this the (rumored) emphasis on shooting vs. HTH in the new edition of the game, and you get some very positive feelings for great big ground-pounding sisters squads. (The large squad size helps the unit to take shooting casualties and still keep on comming.)

Keeping them alive to get in range against Tau firepower is going to be the real trick.

You can always steal an Imperial Guard Chimera when you have a sister famulous. Yes, it would be good to have a sob apc (armoured personnel carrier) with a bit more armour AND firepower. There are rules in chapter approved at making new vehicles. I woulden't mind if the sob creates somthing new completely, since the sob stick to the pathetic fluff reasons on why they lack on tanks they consider that only flame purify's and blasting the hell of them dosen't? But still this shoulden't really rule out heavy support options. If anyone has ever studied medieveil weaponry you might see that the old acorpian catapult can be adpted into a modern projectile version still casting a scatter of flaming 'rockets'. But honestly we can dream but I doubt the sisters will ever have much in hand.

i pretty much hafta do with a rhino (landraiders suck&#33 with chaos, but i have special upgrades and crap i can take. i think the sisters should get new vehicle called the "Hydra" or something. It should be a regular vehicle, armor is 12 12 10, it has a twinlinked lascannon on top and a heavy bolter on the hull, should carry 10 sisters and will cost pretty much.
off topic: i also think the sisters should get a dreadnought thingey (there's one in a recent white dwarf) and terminator armor!

well im my opinion land raiders are a marine trademark so no raiders for SOB.
BUT i am in the middle of a book that im writing and it had a sisters version of the land raider in it. had 12 armor sides 13 front inferno cannons on the sponsons and where the heavy bolters are theres a flamer....and carrys a squad of 12. no name yett. cheaper than land reider too. points havent figured out yett. name suggestions would be great!

Well, the trial vehicle rules and trial assault rules are available in the new Chapter Approved. The new edition of the game, due to be released sometime in the next 2 years, is not available (although playtesters have it now, they are sworn to secrecy -- BM looks up at the ceiling and wistles).

Anyway, commonly available details from the 4th ed. that pertain to shooting: rapid fire weapons will be able to shoot twice up to 12" even if the unit moves (but the unit may not then assault); rules for wound allocation are changed so that all models must make a save if there are wounds enough to get every model; etc. Check the rumours of this board or of Portent or Eldar On-Line for more details. Of course, a lot of the rumours are either incorrect or will be changed.
