    Anti-Tank Weapons

Well so far my Witch Hunters have only won one out of six games:cry: I've noticed that the thing that always turns the battle is tanks. So my question is what is the most effective anti-tank weapon that the sisters possess? I've enjoyed the one retributor squad I have with 4 multi meltas, but that is pretty pricy.

give the retributers back there heavy'b's !

2 exorcists is pretty standard even one is enough to down most any tank in the game, domminions would be 2cnd a unit of 6 in a immolater with heavy flamers and the4 sisters have melta guns with a vet with combi-melta , drive it to tank disembark fire the dommy's at tank and then flame the occupants that survive the boom.

Equipping a Battle squad or Celestian squad or two with two meltaguns is a flexible and cheaper alternative to the quad melta Domins.

Seraphim can be deadly AT'ers when fitted out with any of Inferno Pistols, Eviscerators or Melta Bombs. Small squads work best for this as they don't need the numbers for assaults so much. The same goes for Jump Pack equipped Canonesses.

Immolators with MM aren't that effective. They have to get within 12" to be able to reliably penetrate armour, which is difficult for such a lightly armored vehicle.

Above all though the Exorcist is your AT with Sisters. I've seen battles where one has knocked out 3 or 4 enemy tanks. It is particularly deadly against medium armored vehicles because it can easily penetrate their armour (penetrates on the same roll as a Lascannon) but gets multiple hits, so has more opportunity to get a destroyed result when rolling for damage. It also has the ability to move and fire at full effect, so be sure to use this to duck in and out of cover and acquire firing lanes.

Multimeltas used to be deadly way back in 2ed days, but are now useless. They simply lack the range of lascannons, and don't even quite equal them in hitting power really. Getting a heavy weapon within 12" of a tank and then firing it is a tall order, and past 12" they aren't too hot. Meltaguns in practice work better. The old MM never turns up in Space Marine lists, not even Salamanders.

Pretty much as said above, you won;t win many games relying only on a multi-melta unit. I used them when i first got the army and found them to be too short ranged and too slow (even with an immlator to get them places) Retributors are better suited with heavy bolters.

yes, give them their hvy bolters back!. Anyways, these are my AT units in 2000pt games.

    1.) My two exorcists
2.) My mounted battle sister squad w/ 2 melta guns + plasma pistol
3.) Seraphim Superior w/ eviscerator (never use the TL inferno pistols)
    4.) Canoness w/ inferno pistol
5.) Grey Knight Terminators w/ 2 psycannons. (light AT, decent against standard armour if you can hit back armour.

I stray from dominions as their weapons prices are higher and my mounted squad can do the same thing essentially.

Hmmm I don't really like the eviserator to go against tanks, I think it's a nice backup in case the shooting failed but hitting on 6+ on skimmers and tanks which have moved a fair bit is too much of a long shot. IMO anyways. With shooting weapons your chances to hit arn't reduced so I think it may be a more stable solution when knocking out tanks.

Eh? She's STR6 to begin with, plus you get TWO dice for penetration (in all respects like a chainfist...)

Were you thinking maybe of a Blessed Weapon?

Exorcist has to be our number one AT.

I use two other options in my list as well as an Exorcist.

1./ Canoness with jump-pack, Cloak of St. Aspira and master-crafted eviscerator. S6 + 2d6 dam vs vehicle or Faith(+2 Str) for S8 + 2d6. 4x attks on the charge with a re-roll almost always gets you a hit. +2 save (faith for invulnerable) if she's left hanging in the breeze afterwards. S8 is also great for IC killing.

2./ Sera unit of 5x models with 1x flamer, 1x inferno, 2x BP's, VSS with 2xBP's and melta bomb's. Cheap unit thats very anti-tank and a great objective gatherer.

IMHO meltas in the troops iarn't worth the points. If a tank is 12" away, you're in trouble.
Doms, with meltas...they are better off with flamers.

Multi-meltas in any unit are very expensive...I'd only consider them as an Immy upgrade where you get a re-roll to hit or with retribs in a 3x HB, 1xMM config, but this is not my preffered retrib config...you got to love the 4x HB's.

    My 2 cents.

    Cheers

long range AT is really the main weakness of th e SOB. But who care? We are close range fighters.

I use one or two exorcist(s) of course, but do not rely on them. although they are powerfull, with strenght 8 it can be long to shot down tanks with 13+ armor (once, fired 4 turns on a hammerhead without having it, darn antigrav!).

So my main force is AT equiped. Sisters with melta, cannoness with inferno, seraphims with infernos. Since I use my sisters as an motorized assault force, it works: as soon as my sisters are close to tanks, bye bye.

I don't like the eviscerator because my opponents tends to have antigrav and its a pain to catch them in CC. But its a personnal choise.

I liketo take an immolator with meltas sometimes too, rushing with rhinos to close range. Note that it is toasted everytime but it drives away heavy fire from my precious sisters in rhino or my exorcists.
