As some of you may know i've only just started collecting 40K and theres me.

My dad goes and spends £100 on Imperial Guard army for me and all in all it only adds up to a 500pt army!

Now maybe its just me but with 40 troops a command squad and a Jnr. Officer and his squad shoul be a little more than 500 points shouldn't it?

Maybe you could give me some feedback 'cos i don't think i'm the only one who's thought this so far!

    Cheers!

Sure you can add upgrades to bring up the point value.

Weapons (Flamers, Bolters, Grenade Launchers, etc.) Items (Com-Links, Meltabombs, Carapace Armor, Bionics, etc.)

Pure infantry Guard are cheap in points, but as soon as you start getting the tanks and the support squads for your HQ, the elites, the sentinels etc etc you'll find that you end up having to struggle with fitting your wishes into the desired point ranges.

With an armoured fist squad, three sentinels, 2-3 support squads (heavy weapon squads in your HQ choice) and a few tanks you'll be sniffing the 1500s.

And btw... this is totally the wrong forum for an army specific post.

    Good luck with the Guard!

if IG infantry were expensive (pts wise), I don't think anyone would play IG, since they die en mass.

The points system is the system of measuring relative power. The higher the points, the more powerful the model, the lower the points, etc.

Even though it is only 500 points the addition of a heavy weapons team per squad, a special weapon, and your favored method of leadership (none, vox-caster, or vet. sarge) will certainly increase costs. Also, you will find that guard players have a tendency to splurge, ie. taking 2000 points in a 1500 point list. It's just the way the guard is.

Well i had a HQ, a troop choice (Inc. the jnr officer), a 10 man conscript platoon and a Techpriest and it all comes to 510pts. even after upgrading and adding etc.

Sorry about putting this here, i am just so used to chatting in this section.
