I have seen several threads on what people use for drop pods. I have a bit more of a tactical question.
How do you use your drop pods?
Do you drop them all in one area or spread them out? How do you set up your squads be there Power Armor or Terminators? How do you use your men after they are out of there pod, are they tank hunters, troop killers, Elite boss assasians?
I am contemplating my tactics on my Drop Pods and thought I would ask others how they have used theirs to success and or failure.
I've used them for tank hunting / close combat support along with a fairly fast moving army. I've just used a pair of pods every time I've used them, which goes against many people's advice of going all or nothing. As for how I drop them it really depends on the table. Make sure they can either do their job in one turn or make sure they'll be supported, preferrably ensure both. As I said, I've played reasonably quick moving armies... so I've been able to stretch my deep striking a little bit, since I had my army on the enemy lines to begin with.
I use them fairly regularly, but how / where I use them depends on my opponent. If he has some nasty cc-units, I try to avoid those. I often cluster the pods, so I have a fairly strong force located at that spot. But if I think they'll survive, I spread them out and occupy as much of the line as I can.

Depends on the table and the opponet. For weak opponets really close to them and rapid fire their buts off. Against my brothers Iron Warriors army I avoid those Ap3 ordinace templates. So against that I get really really close or hide behind the cover to pop out next turn..
