I'm trying different traits for my Scions of Aquarius chapter. For those who remember it was a underwater close combat army. I'm thinking of taking up to 6 assault squads using blessed be the warriors trait and take the rest in Scouts. That way the oppoenent has to choose if they want to kill the scouts first, or the assault squad first and if either one dies quicky the other will get into combat almost guaranteed.
Well any way you look at it a close combate army with even just six assault squads can garuntee that 2 will make it there almost enitirely intact. However how do you propose that you will be destroying tanks and what are you going to do against an ork hoard. Or a nid hoard.
You are going to run into your squads being squished behind cover while approaching, or ariving in waves from deep strike. Then when you reach your enemy much of your assault strength will be wasted as it is not in 2" range.
But if you are set on this course of action I suggest a maximum of 4 assault squads and a couple of scout squads with rocket launchers or at least include a couple of tank hunting landspeeders or landspeeder tornados. That way you will have some firepower. And for your HQ the Chappy or Librarian are the obvious choices.

i honestly dont like the idea. I think an assault squad or two would be good, but 6 is abit much. I would get a bike squad, it fits fluff well and has some awsome modelling opportunities. Scouts i would stay away from because they are supposed to be light infantry but they obviously need lots of equipment to operate underwater. This is why i think you should stick to power armoured marines.

I think it has merit, I was thinking of making asimilar list with 6 smaller assault squads, small Tactical squads with heavy Weapons and a Few Devastators.
I think you should just start making lists and see how they turn out, they when you hit one you like try it and see what happens.
