Hi lads (and possibly lasses)
Apologies in advance, as im not sure whether this question qualifies to be in this section or the conversion section, but in the end i figured its more an army configuration then a modelling question..
Anywho, today i got my hands on a Necromunda Escher gang (actually i bought it a fortnight ago on ebay, but it only arrived today), and im trying to work out how im going to put them into my IG army. i bought them primarily because the range of IG miniatures lack females, and well i wanted some
but alas now im not sure how im going to implement them. When i bought them the guy i bought them off suggested i field them in their own squad as veterans, but i dont think that sits well fluffwise, as id been told previously that squads werent built in regards to sex or race but rather they were thrown together indiscriminately. Also the gang i purchased features an array of different sized models, from the leader figure and general gangers, to a couple heavy weapons and also a few juves.
Now i figure its possible to blend them into similar squads, such as using juves as conscripts, normal gangers as standard, and heavy weaponers and gangers with other weapons (such as shotguns) as veterans, however im concerned about their size difference as contrary to popular belief their size is quite noticeably different to IG troops, with their hands and heads being smaller, as well as their general build, and also their uniforms are quite different to my cadian force (altho not as different as youd think, as most of my cadians have features such as fur cloaks and unclothed arms from mordheim and catachan boxes).
Now i was wondering if i could get some recommendations from other players; do you think fielding them as a single squad of veterans would be the best 'looking' way to do it and ignore the fluff, or would i be better off to mix them into the other squads i have, and perhaps add more 'cadian' armor were i can? or do you have any other ideas?
I would recommend fielding them as Veterans. I have seen Necromunda minis used many times in Guard armies but these are usually more rag-tag armies than Cadians, armies like Last Chancers, Tanith Ghosts or different penal legions. You could, of course, use them as regular guardsmen (provided of course that they have the appropriate weapons) but I don't know if they might look out of place?
If you field them as a Hardened Veterans unit you could make up some cool fluff for them as a badass group of women who will break your heart and knock you off your feet (litteraly).
I am looking forward to seeing them.
You could field them as remnants, saying they are quickly conscripted soldier(esses?) from the last world your regiment was on.
"Through most of the war we fought as nobles might. Never betraying, never decietful. But there came a point where tripping the soldier next to you might mean another day of life..."
I was doing a similar thing recently with my ratskins and van saar minis. I used them as allies for my blood angels using the "youth army platoon" entry from p39 of the eye of terror codex.
For background I said they were a hastely assembled group of hive citizens used to bolster local defence forces under the leadership of my marines.
Think of it this way. If a hive world get invaded or turned by chaos, some will join the fallen and some will rally to the emperors banner.
If you wanted to use them as more veteraned fighters consider using conscripts or traitors
