k.. i don't want to offend anyone by asking..but... what the heck is the space wolves' weakness? I play 'nids and and of course my whole objective is to get into close combat.... well even against my stealers this guy's space wolves dominant...not to mention his lil 3 or 5 man squad (can't remember) of termies eat me alive. Please help... even if it's just advice about space marines in general...any help is much appreciated:yes:
rending, rending, warp blast, and one cheap +BS VC carnifex (if he takes tanks). It is still kind of crazy though... I recently played a 1500pt game against an all-infantry list and, despite having a solid rending list, it was REALLY close (saved by the Flying tyrant with +WS and Miasma so his bloodclaws had to hit on a 5+).
I used hormagaunts to jump forward and prevent his squads from cutting me down with bolters, backed up by flying rending-warriors, with genestealers walking up behind. Warp blast from the 'thropes worked really well, but I only managed to hit once with each over the course of the whole game.
Keep your zoanthropes forward so they take a lot of fire (because they can take it), make sure you get the charge, and cross your fingers.
I think a lot depends on what else he's taking besides the usual Space Wolves goodness.
If he has Wolf Scouts...I'd recommend a rather mobile Tyranid force (most that I've seen are...) thus removing the sting of the Operate Behind Enemy Lines ability they have.
Watching out for the 2x+ Powerfists per Pack...especially if he takes multiple packs. Those fists can do some serious damage to your Monsterous Creatures...what I'd recommend is watching your BtB with your Fexes and Hive Tyrants...and avoid the Power Fists until his pack and worn low...and your higher Initiative Tyrany might give it a good go at taking them out.
Wolves generally lack in strong anti-tank long range goodness...so keep those Barbed Stranglers and Venon Cannons blaring (if you carry them). Wolves do manage to carry Meltas for some serious close range anti-tank goodness...as well as plasmas. However, generally wolves have lower model counts...so you probably shouldn't expect too much firepower to take down one of your MCs during the shooting phase. If you can outshoot the wolves...I think you can do a LOT more damage and play a game that he's not expecting.
Lictors...I think may have a great hayday against the Long Fangs and other supporting armour units (like Whirlwinds).
Watch out for any Vindicators though...they'll wipe your troops out like Raid Plus on Roaches....although honestly, your Fexes should just shrug them off (that's only 1 Wound per hit...).
Also remember that Wolves deploying out of Rhinos and Drop Pods are vulnerable for a round (although I'd imagine they'd hit your nids with some serious dakka goodness. If you have a somewhat shootier Nid force...take advantage of it...and perhaps hide your Raveners behind your MCs...and launch them out when needed.
Okay, that's off the top of my head...I hope some of it was sound...heh. Good luck.
thanks man..yeah i have a shooty carni as well as a dakkafex.. so next time i'll try runnin' them..thanks again
