    Russ in small games (750)

How would a leeman russ fare in a small game around 750pts?
I would love any input as I am soon to play with my IG in a 750pts campain.

It would own, in fact it might be a little too good. It is a serioulsy good tank and is hard to stop.

I say use it, but some people may consider it cheesy (the fools) as it is really hard to stop at that level without proper anti-tank weapons.

Go gor it... In 750 pts, not many people will have the proper anti-tank to take it down, and its array of weopans will seriously hurt enemy armies, think marines.....

If you do show up bring it along with hull HB, HB Sponsons and maybe pintle heavy Stubber. Puts out a wall of fire for horde armies and that way you can always use it to try and hold an objective depending on the scenario.

I kindda like the idea... Would you say Demolisher or battle tank? How would you build the rest of the army?

Use the battle tank. The range is very important, and the AP 3 won't matter, since you will not be seeing a lot of 2+ saves. A russ is fun in small games. Very fun.

But is it also fun for the other player?

No one likes facing a Leman Russ at all because they are so good (but you pay for it).

The demolisher IMO isn't as good as the normal variant because of short range, but it does have much better sponson weapons.

I say use which ever one you like best, I prefer the look of the battletank so I would use that but its up to you.

Well lets think common sense. If you are fighting marines you want to stay as far away as possible because of all of their plasmas. The last thing you want to do is move into their rapid fire range where they have a better chance of popping the vehicle. If you want to get close get a basic unimproved Hellhound flame tank and then roll up a flank with it.

I would avoid the demolisher. More points, bigger loss and you still need to close range which once again puts you closer to their special weapons. Make them come to you and you interlocking fields of fire as they run the flashlight gauntlet.

Word to this idea. However, due to the large points sink it is sort of a gamble. The one tank will cost 20% of your total points, meaning if it does go down prematurely you'll be in trouble. But, like everyone's saying, nobody's going to expect it and it will probably own.
