I am thinking of starting a relictors army. I quite fancy a few daemonhosts and chaos weapons, without turning completely to the Dark Side of the Force (Chaos Marines). Anyone used them before? Fun to play with?
"Technically" Relictors rules are obsolete with the new codex. There is rumors on the GW site that they MAY re-release the cursed founding chapters (of witch I believe the relictors are part of) for 4th ed. Otherwise GW suggests you simply re-create them as closely as possible with the traight system.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
I don't know about relictors, but if they are one of the Chapters of the Cursed Founding, then rules to recreate it may be found on the GW site. At least I was able to download a copy of rules (for taking Cursed units as allies or for playing an all-Cursed-Founding army) from the German GW shop site.
Unfortunately it's German, so it won't be of any use to most of you. Those who want to try anyways can ask me for the link. Otherwise try and search English GW sites for free downloads!
never heard of them but would love t o know what they are
Relictors werent cursed founding they just used chaos weapons and the =I= didnt like that.
Erik Moraki's Great Company 16/4/7
Borgut "SBD" GreatStrider's Ogres 6/1/2
An'Gorath's World Eaters 3/0/2
Sigurd GreatFang's Wulfen Host 7/4/3
I'm pretty sure that the Relictors aren't part of the cursed founding, they were 'merely' led astray by a radical inquisitor.
Basically, the chapter venerates all artifacts and relics, which allowed a radical inquisitor to persuade one of thier captains to take up a daemon weapon from a chaos champion he defeated, which allows him to turn certain defeat into victory, yadda yadda yadda...
This leads to the chapter developing even more hording tendencies, so they now own several daemon weapons and a bunch of other 'dubious' artifacts. I belive that they have now been declared Extremis Diabolus, and are being hunted down by the Imperium.
In game terms this basically means that they cannot take any imperial allies (ie: Deathwatch, Grey Knights etc) except for radical Daemonhunter Inquisitors and Daemonhosts. They also have a number of new toys in the armoury to play with, including most of the Chaos daemon weapons (costs 25 pts, you get a randomly generated daemon weapon) and a bunch of unique items, most of which are very expensive.
Anyway, what Chaosbrynn says is correct, you can't technically use the rules from UK WD 295 because of the 40k rules update. However, if you ask nicely, and explain to your opponents what exactly they are, what they do, and show them the rules, they might let you give them a shot.
Hope that was vaguely useful...
