I'm back

I dropped out of the scene for the last long-while, and I have discovered that lots has changed since I quit. There really is a good reason I stopped; I discovered that after getting shot at for 9 months, I kinda lost my taste for gaming for a while. Now that the traumatic withdrawl is over, I have an overwhelming desire to re field the colossal IG armies I loved so much, but I have a few questions.
I have 3 armies:
-about a bazillion pts in Armour (I can field 3x 2500pt AC and super heavies)
-1500pt Death Korps
-1500pt Generic (will change)

1)The Tau seem to have some uber-pinning weapons in addition to their anti-tank godness. What is the consensus on fighting against sniper gun drones and snipers? Also, any newly developed tactics against suits.

2)What issue are the abhuman doctrines in, or where can I find them?

3)Chapter Approved/FAQs and other additional rules/changes concerning IG sine summer 2005?

4)Can a Bombard (or other FW) be fielded with a regular Tournement army?

5)Where the hell are all the new cheaper plastic models I remember being dreamed-up?!(hah, hah, GW making cheaper plastic models?!) I know about Cadians and FW stuff.

6)Where are the rules for the IG High Command HQ unit?
7)IG aircraft/Vulture/Valkeries; are they really useful?

Feel free to refer me to other threads.
H0urG1ass is a Mod, who did that? And what happened to all the crazy Scandanavians? Man, I gotta stop drinking. By the way, for anyone who remembers the old "M1A1 Abrahms" threads, they are not as great in real life as the books make them out to be. I used to sing their glories, now I'll stick to foot sloggin'.

1) Tau are definitely becoming a power house army with their new codex combined with clever tacticians that are taking full advantage of all their toys. Tactics wise, I haven't seen anything new that the IG can employ to fight them and have more than a 50% chance of coming out on top. Best bet is to try and outrange them with our heavy guns, and use indirect fire basilisks to try and counter the jump-shoot-jump tactic. Deepstriking melta teams are the best bet against hammerheads, although they will still be a tough target to crack. I dont know if the sniper drone teams will be much of an issue however, sure they are a good unit, but compared to the tau's other heavy choices, they seem to be the least useful overall.

2)No idea

3)Nothing regarding IG.

4)Depends on the tournament, however most do not allow forge world models. There are some rumours floating around the net that this could change by the end of the year. Definitely a good thing for IG if this eventuates.

5)Plastic?? Cheaper?? You're a funny man!! Truth is the next guard set to be released are the Vostroyans, and they definitely look like metal models to me. Price lists suggest this also.

6)They were in a WD, though I dont know the issue. In any case, they are a 'special' unit for IG and cannot be used in official events... at least for the time being.

7)Never used them so cant say. Cool models though.

There isn't a single Tau player in town, so I've been fortunate enough to never have to face the blueskins. Not that I mind, seeing as I hate everything about them, be it the fluff, the models or the playing-style.

White Dwarf #303.

Codex: Catachans has been rewamped. Abhumans have been added in WD and we also got a new HQ choice in WD308.

I'm quite sure this varies from tournament to tournament. Most large tournaments around here do allow Forgeworld Vehicles aside from Flyers and Superheavies, but not all of them.

You've only dreamed them up. There are no new plastic models unless you count the Elysians(resin) but they're hardly cheap. There is also a new Guard regiment comming out this summer based on Napoleon-era Russia but they're all metal it seems. There's another thread with pictures of them floating around...

White Dwarf #308.

I don't know. I'd like to be able to field almost everything out of Codex: Imperial Guard before I go into Forgeworld stuff... and then the Flyers are last on my list.

Unless I've goofed up, Hourglass is only a subscriber, meaning he's donated some money to keep L-O online and therefore gets a new shiny sign and whatnot. As for the crazy Scandinavians... there's always me.

Thanks alot! When I sat down and dusted off my armies I imagined a massive, surging line of IG slaughtering their foes in CC. About the time the alcohol wore off I had a good laugh (and cried inwardly). Later that evening I had a dream, yes there was violence and strange pornographic images, but the other dream was highlighted by a set of Iced Earth songs. This, single handedly inspired me to bring back the massed volley fire tactics into my thought process. So now I must cast off the shackles of socializing and sunlight, and return to my hobby desk; for there are power gamers and Warmachine fan boys to be crushed 'neath the power of my treads! I have just the fat man in mind, too...moohoohahah!
