Welcome to Librarium Online!
i love dreadnoughts, ok, not in that way (well... a bit) and i want to make a dread in imperial fists colours, if i can get one second hand. But what is a good setup for an IF dread? assault cannon, ccw, extra armour, smoke launchers? or a lascannon-missile launcher getup?
i'm asking coz i don't wanna convert and paint a nice-looking model, only finding out i cant use it properly if i ever make a full IF-army
Imperial Fists should have somewhat of a Fist obsession. Fluffwise all Crimson Fist Dreadnoughts have power fists. So should Imperial Fists.
On the other arm you can put an Assault Cannon or TL Lascannon.
Assault Cannon are excellant and keep the Dread cheap. Plus looking awesome.
TLLC work best with a ML which isn't really an option for IF, and Tank Hunter adding to the points.
A cheap Power Fist, Assault Cannon and Heavy Flamer ina Drop Pod Dread is awesome, or foot slogging with a Storm Bolter.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
since you can give tact's and dev's the tankhunter skill and due to the "low armour" of the dread i would suggest the assault cannon, ccw, extra armour, smoke launchers layout.
The low armout is because if you equip your dread with anti tank (las/missile) tanks are going to shoot your dread. ussually with high strenght so your dreads armour of 12 is a bit low in comparison...
AND hey, rending rulez, + normal marine's can't do a thing against you in combat :-)

nice, thx! i had the same problem with a SW-dread i got as a going away present, i painted it, assembled it, and then, afterwards thought "is it actually any good"
personally, i love the missile launcher assault cannon combo.

IF is a siege army, so lascannon/ML is a good choice in that regard. But if you still want a fist, then it's up to you. I found out that with the plastic dreadnought it's actually possible to just put the arms on and off as you please. You don't have to glue them, apparently.
