Best is such an iffy word.

All I can do is list wich ones I find useful. As to disadvantages, whichever affects your army the least.

Traights that I find particularly useful:

    See but be not seen
    Blessed be the warriors
    Be swift as the wind
    no mercy no respite
    take the fight to them
    cleanse and purify
    honor your wargear
    wisdom of the anchients

Basically anything that modifies your FOC or allows your units to take traights or weapon selections they wouldnt normally be able to without giving you a drawback (such as the traight that costs you your cover saves).
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:

    1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant

    2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers

    3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC

i can give no opinion as the traits arnt there to make your army better its supposed to make it interchangeable so u can make an army that matches your style.
but i use either the dread one or or umm i cnat remember (dont have my coodex here)
drawback is usually have pride in your colours.
    Cheers
ps i have a trait based clan in the clubs and clans section if u wanna sign up.

infilitrate, Elite Devastators, BP&CCW marines, Furious Assault, 2 Special weapons. so basically stuff that makes them more like chaos marines.
    Take life seriously, its lethal.

The one that allows elite devs - honour your wargear? put the devs in elite with tank hunter or infiltrate, then fill up the heavy slots with more devs or tanks. Can get cheesy.

The one that allows furiously assaulting assault marines - no mercy no respite?

And cleanse and purify with drop pods.

Dang you captain Mito for beating me to it. But there is a clan dedicated to this subject exactly. So to answer your question maybe:
    I like the infiltrate one
the one that allows you to take extra pecial weapons by not taking heavy ones.
The one that allows you to have regular space marines sqap their bolters for close combat weapons.
And finally I like bikes so be swift as the wind. But as you can't us four I usualy pick from these four.

I like Cleanse and Purify because it allows 2 assault weapons. My tac squads like to move, so it makes sense.
I also have No Mercy No Respite because I think assault squads need the help on the charge.
My disadvantage is Aspire to Glory. It does stop me taking termie librarians and iron halos, but it suits my fluff, and that is important to me.

I'm fond of either Take the Fight to Them or Trust Your Battle Brothers. Every game I've played at least one side has wanted to get into CC, so having the extra attack is handy. I've yet to decide which trait I really prefer though.
You play your game, I'll play mine.
