    Adamantite mantal Daemonhunter army question.

Hello everyone, one perticular subject has been annoying me, WHY DONT GREY KNIGHTS GET ADAMANTITE MANTELS!
Getting a gm at such a price and not getting that as a choice in the armoury really ugs me, will they ever get one?

Isn't it a relatively new item? It wasn't in the old Marine codex either.
Why do the survivors remain anonymous -- as if cursed -- while the dead are revered? Why do we cling to what we lose while we ignore what we still hold?

It was a piece of wargear unique to the Salamanders.

And now 90% of the marine chapters have access to them.

Take from that what you will.

Ah, in that case, asking why Grey Knights don't have it is like asking why they don't have some other item or ability that was once unique to another chapter. It's also possible that they might get it in the next version of whatever codex they appear in.

When c:DH was released, only the Salamanders had access to the Adamantium Mantle. Then, two or three codecies and a rules edition later, the SM codex was altered to include the Adamantium Mantle. There's no reason that they would remake existing Imperial codecies to alter them. Especially since GK aren't run of the mill SM in any way.

Personally, I think that it should have stayed with Salamanders. I'm not all that fond of GW's recent idea of spreading tech around such that so many abilities and items are no longer unique. It really dilutes the specific chapters. . .

Not to get completely off-topic, but I think the reason they did that was to strengthen the use of the Traits system. By having general access to all of the old chapter-specific gear, you can build just about any army you like. If you could only get the AM by fielding Salamanders and their successors, you'd be stuck with the (fairly poor) Traits assigned to the Salamanders instead of being able to make your own. Of course, the lack of SW wargear in the general armoury is an argument against this, but that could be because they're one of the major chapters, where the Salamanders were never more than a footnote (despite being one of the Legions).
