    A Tech-Priest/Skitarii army

Hello people, I have been a 40k player sence Rogue Trader days, I started with a Ultramarine army wayy wayy wayyyyy back in the day, then I got a good deal on a Ig force and have been playing them ever sence. But as what happens with alot of players I grew up and had to drop playing 40 as reallife took over , eg work, women etc etc. I never quite got it out of my system tho as I always go by the GW store near my place and pick up the blacklibary books and such. I have always loved the fluff with 40k. Now it seems that I want to get back into playing.I am in the process of perchsing a warhound titan model from forgue worldas a center piece for my techpriest/ skitarii force. Now, I would like to know if there are any plans for a TP codex in the workes. The GW personal there are rather mum on the situation as if they dont know ( hell, maybe they actually dont -shrugs-) Now, if there isn't one comming out in the near future, I would like to know if the new IG codex with its doctruns could be modified to make one. I dont thinks it would be to hard to do, such as instead of a stormtrooper unit make it a Adeptus Mechanicus teleport squad( from the Souldrinkers book the bleeding chalice) and stuff like that. Instead of a command HQ with a major make him a techpriest, just give him boincs and carapace armour so that you can justify why hes got power armour and so forth. I look foward to any imput on this and I thank you all in advance for your advice.
    Mike

Skitari would be easy- give them the bionics doctrine. load up on technology (mechanised, heavy weapons etc) take techpriests, you dont need to make them the commander
Everything you have been told is a lie!

that's gw's reccomendation, for the most part it works although I don't see any reason why your officers can't just be converted tech-magos or whatever they're called. (your HSO for instance could just be a tech prist model...) And instead of heavy weapons, an appropriately armed servitor would fit the theme of the army pretty well imho. That and I wouldn't even take bionics unless you really wanted to...because buying that doctrine is like buying a midget trained specificly to punch you in the nuts, it's a total waste of points and serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

You said something about teleporting squads, you could do that with the Drop Troops doctrine, that one's actually effective too, which is even better.

That's all I can think of for now, good luck building this

u could make the hvy weapon team a servitor, on a large base, with another guardsman standing behind the servitor reloading him...

Be warned- that will be a VERY non-competitive army. Giving an IG squad a 6+ special save for +20pts is arguably the worst per-points purchase in the game. Also, the techpriest has a lot of rules that make him somewhat useless in battle. For example, it would be cool if you could take a tooled out techpriest with a whole bunch of wargear (as a techpriest would likely have) along with a tooled out squad of servitors to make him formidable. However, the servitors count against his 50pt wargear limit, which means he can't have much wargear at all, if any. Also, he only has one wound? I think he should have two for his points.

Mechanized and Carapace Armor are solid doctrines though- no complaints about those. Also, adeptus mechanicus armies look really sweet and have an awesome background. Be sure to include sentinels- those have the right feel in such an army.

Actually.. Skitarii are not lead by tech priests at all. According to the Epic stuff, they are generally led by a Skitarii leader called a 'Tribune.' He's a specifically military leader who commands them in battle, since the average tech priest doesn't have a great grasp of tactics.

The command squad would be perfect to represent such an individual.

Wasn't there an article on how to do a really cool Skitarri-force using the Lost and the Damned army list? i think those rules would fit perfectly.

There was in the US WD, which I don't get here in Sweden :p
It's easy to make a mechanicus themed army using many different codices. The IG codex is most obvius, and you can use inquisitorial troops (from Codex:Witchhunters and Daemonhunters) as Adeptus Mechanicus specialist troops. You could also use the Lost and the Damned list, as in the article, which gives you all the possibilities of chaos. It all depends on the feel you want in the end: do you want the crazy bio-tech magos at the head of a genetically modified army, or do you want an elite tech-retrieval team designed for hit n'run (using droptrooping stormtroopers and grenadiers) or something else?
The hard part comes when you have to paint and model your planned army

Personally I'd use the Witch Hunters list for the rules but not most of the models.

Its already got a lot of things that would fit nice in a tech-priest style army like Archo-flagellents, Penitent engines and that wacky missle tank.

See how easily battle sister stats equate to skitarii.

    High BS=bionic eyes.

    3+ saves=bionic parts+armour.

Faith points=High tech limited use gear or simply faith in the Omnimessiah.

    Bolters well...still equal bolters.

If you want more tanks or some less skilled troops to bulk out your force simply add some allied IG.
