    PlasCan Success can happen!

Well, lately I have been talking about fighting a game with DA, heavy with plasma cannons. I don't have a report to give, so thats why its here. This is just saying the effectiveness of the cannons and strategy. This game had the most insane results with cannons... they worked. Of about 8 shots during the entire game, not a single one overheated! And out of all of those, only 2 shots failed (1 to miss, 1 to not wounding). I am just using this to tell people that a plasma cannon should never be overlooked. i played both necrons and tyranids at the same time, and nobody was safe from the big blue blasts . For one troop squad, It ate through about 6 stealers, and the rest were gone to bolters. That made up for costs, so never overlook it. The dread dropped inbetween necrons warriors+lord and the HvyDestroyers, killing off the all warriors after 2 turns.

In short, don't overlook these! Strategy is quite simple, shoot at big groups, kill big groups. If they have armour, doesnt matter, burn through it. Just hope the dice love you too.

    Sleeping, not dead.

Glad to hear it Jaffar_Hasad! :w00t: I personally have always been plasma
cannon, even when plasma cannon wasn't cool. I found by taking
the "Purity above all" trait can reduce your plasma causalties to zero as well.
If you don't want that trait.. put two cannons in a command squad with an
    apothacary.

i always use a plasma cannon and it's only ever exploded once (plasma Pistols however...)
plus it always makes it's points back, usually in the first two turns

The best I have seen is 17 Orks with 1 Plasma Dev squad. They had just won a combat and rolled a 1 for consolidation.

    Nasty.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!

I have always been a big fan of plasma cannons.

Since the new codex now allows Tactical Squads to take these babies, I have used them to great effect. Especially since most of my opponents MEQs.

I used two Tac squads with one cannon each and a Dev Squad eqipped with two cannons to eliminate the biggest enemy threats. They can split or concentrate their firepower as needed.

I plan to add a few to my servitor squads in the future.

Wow. Yesterday, I played a 2500 list with 4 plasma cannons against chaos. On the very first turn, 2 overheated, and I failed both armour saves.

plasma cannons... i lost a game to a dark angles player soley because of these. They blew up the side armor of a battlewagon (which 2 lascannons ddint penetrate through) and killed 40 orks in total!...after i rolled a 1 for massacure of corse. But at least i got to punch through his dreadnaught with a powerklaw! :w00t:

Man, I hate when that happens! I've only had to deal with that a few times,
but it still sucks! Again an apothecary works will for a plasma heavy army.

yeah I love them when they work, I have two tacs running around in the background of my army firing 1 cannon each.

However I've had some bad experiances with them.

    Game 1

Turn 1: Fire (roll a 1), overheat, armor save (roll a 1) XP

    Game 2

Turn 1: Fire (roll a 1), overheat, armor save (roll a 1) XP
