Hi, I was considering the benefits of adding a vindicator to my army but don't know if it's wise. Are they particularly good against certain armies or are they just good all round. Or maybe they're not worth the points.
Feel free to post your thoughts on vindicators.
Well first tell us more about your army is it is shooty or assulty
Genraly the Vindi will be usefull aganist meqs and if your army is assulty
TAU suck, Blood angels rule
My army is generally not too good in either so I'll say my armies all-round. I don't have many heavy weapons or close combat units. It can be equipped to be moderately shooty with a dreadnought lascannon/m.launcher and a whirlwind but not much else
My army isn't super proficient in either field but if I had to say one it would be shooty on account of my termies, dread and whirlwind.
My army is Dark Angels (and has been since 1990 when I first started playing 40K), though lately I just play with a vanilla marine list (for ease of play). This being said, I finally got around to putting my Vindicator together, painting it a bit to make it table-ready, and tested it in a battle against the dreaded Necron threat.
At first, due to unfavorable terrain, my line of sight wasn't providing me with a very target rich environment, so I revved the engine and moved a little further along the side of a building looking for an opening. Just to my front right, as I passed the corner of the building, my rangefinder began tracking a large mass of Necron warriors swarming around the base of a water tower.
I wasn't sure how the cannon would perform against these regenerating troops, so with praise to the immortal Emperor of Man on my lips, I fired at the center of their line hoping to involve as many of them as possible in the burst of the shell. The Emperor was with our crew, and we caught more than half the unit within the blast. Of those hit, half didn't get back up... ever.
I continued to fire on that unit until they were no longer a threat, and then I repositioned my Vindicator for additional firing solutions. Though we were driven from that objective, the Vindicator's cannon proved a formidable weapon and accounted for more than it's fair share of casualties. The Vindicator has found a permanent place in my battle line, and I usually use it to secure a corner of the table around which I can pivot the rest of my troops.
it good as a denyer you can put it down in a well hidden spot were it can move out and fire and you know your enemy will almost certinally send any troops into that area though short ranged it can be a very good deterent and if there is good/sufficient cover they are extrmely deadly, however if you leave it out in the open you going to get A LOT of heavy fire on it and all you opponet needs is to blow off the gun or destroy it and it wont bother them any more.... so if used well extremely deadly rushed forward and left out in open a nice new piece of cover to decorate your gaming table....
It's probably my favourite tank in the game right now, which is strange because I've never played an army which can field one, or seen it played particularly well outside of battle reports.
It's probably the most efficient ordinance tank around. You're not paying for uneccesary stuff, you have a massively powerful main gun and reasonable armour all for a good points cost. It requires a bit of tactics to use effectively, and a bit of support to make sure nothing gets behind it. But it's a nice tank.
Almost makes me want to play Iron Warriors just to get a possessed, regenerating chaos vindicator of death. ;P
They rock, thier cannon can take down any opponent type, troops vehicles or MC's.
I strongly recomend you give it PotMS however, it makes it infinitely harder for the enemy to deny and stops rubbishy stunnings from being a problem.
Edit: Whats with 13 new threads in a couple of days? You can ask multiple questions per thread.
