Does anyone add LR or LRC to their army lists. If so, how do u use them to the best of their abilities and are they even worth taking.
Feel free to post your opininons below
i some times do it as i play large battle but then i use a normal one agianst tanks armys and crusader agianst infanterie armys so thake the advise
i use a LRR there great against everything and i equip it with a multi-melta for taking out tanks
Please don't cut me at the knees short scary giner person with a beard.
I prefer the LRC, for its ability to carry the most troops and the sheer firepower from all those guns.
You can shoot many a squad to pieces, as you advance down the field.
You just need to figure out, how well a LR will fit into your force. The LR type of your choosing, plus any squad it may carry, will take up about 25% ( or more ) of your points.
Land Raiders, like everything else, need to be included in the plan for your army. "throwing them in" will most likely fall short of being effective. As a 1yr guy, I've quite often found that to be so very true. I am planning on including a Redeemer, with some assault Terms, but I'm still working on how I'm going to mold the rest of the army around that inclusion. It will be a great iron hard speartip to thrust at my enemy, but I'm still struggling with how to support it effectively.
What's the rest of your army consist of? Are you assault-minded? range focused? an aggressive or defensive player?
I play a regular LR upgraded with Chronos. I use it as anti-tank and to deliver TH/SS terminators. Chronos is absolutely worth his cost.
It has essentially replaced my devastators which I used to field. The shooting is more reliable for me because the BS 5 and twin-linked. It has stood up to melta guns, chain fists, lascannons, and always stays in the game...
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
I've only played 2 games with my Templars, but the LRC has been useful in both. First game I just had it hanging out shooting stupid Orks left right and centre. Second game (again against the same Ork player) I had my Assault orientated Tactical Marines with Marshall and Emperor's Champion hiding in it till his force split up a bit and allowed them to run up the board massacring squad after squad of boyz. For the 2nd game he rather predictably took the Shokk Attack Gun but couldn't hit the Assaulters because they were hidden in it!
i ran a redeemer terminator chaplin assault termies and 2 vindicators in a spearhead against tyranids last week wiped out warriors hormagaunt squad and a 20 man termagaunt squad with 2 casualties was going for hive tryant next but he called game on turn 4 as the tactical squads had wiped his other flank
Nasty, very nasty...
Once I get around, on building a force form the SM codex, I might just try that.
When I first started playing 40k, in 1990, I had a Ultramarines force. I liked the fact, they seemed to be a roman legion.
My thought hasn't changed, though. The codex, and recent artwork, still show them as this.
wtf the first post was in 2006. Its three years old!! Why bring it back??
