I am thinking about making a techmarine biker for my new army, but I ran into a problem. No where in the rules can I find that he cannot take a harness and bike, but I have heard before that he can't do this. Is this true? If, so, why? It doesn't seem very logical to me why he wouldnt be able to...
Thanks for any clarification you can offer here.
Thanks, now I got a request. Last night I found a really cool pic of a raven wing techmarine biker, but I have spent almost 2 hours now searchig fir it...and I am getting really pissed. if any one can help I would very very greatful. I think it used the parts from the semi old command squad techmarine, but I don't really know a I can't look at the stupid picture to find out....grrr...
why do people not search? HERE is the exact same question, and if you scroll down, you'll find a link to the FAQ that gives the rules for the ServoHarness
Mysterious Member of the ANZAC Clan
Thanks. But I don't see any rules there saying he can't, just an extremely poorly writen faq that is totally unofficial.
for example:I can't understand what the heck thats suposed to mean. There isn't a question, and no clear answer.... and most of the "Q&A"s are like this on that page... Because they were writen like that, and never put into an official faq after a year, I can't respect them, even if they were answered by Andy Chambers himself.Ravenwing may take a Techmarine as an elites choice provided he is mounted on a bike for the points cost specified in CM
YES / NO
Sorry for not searching, but I think I now know why people don't use it... When you need to know something fast, and you are all caught up by it, simple things like the search function can sometimes slip your mind...
Anyways, I still would appreciate it if some one could find help me out with finding that pic of the ravenwing techmarine on a bike...
On a side note, I'm planning on making my techmarine like that one, then adding a cool servo contraptio to the saddle behind him, with a servo arm reaching up over him, and the two guns on the sides, plus a sheild generator type thing like the top of the new techmarine backpack. I'll be posting pisc in the conversion forum eventually when i do it... but that'll be in a loooong time most likely.
I just, as typing this, realized some reasoning against harness+bike. The rules for the harness says he may shoot one harness weapon and one he is holding, or both harness weapons, a turn. If using the bike and harness, would the bike count as a weapon he is holding, so he could shoot both harness, or one harness and a pistl/bolter, or one harness and the tl bolterss on the bike? Just a thought.
wow thats a lot of unrelated, yet still ontopic, ideas....
Wow, that would be CRAZY!!! I think that bikes count as wargear, not as weapons, so I'm not sure how exactly bikes work, espicially in this situation! It could possibly mean that the Techmarine could fire two weapons (either both harness or one personal and one harness), and on top of that, his bike would get thier heavy bolter shots! Thats probably why this combo is tenetivly outlawed, even by a poorly written unofficial FAQ. The techmarine would definatly be overpowered, kinda like a mini-tank for half the points. This, of course, is my personal take on the techmarine, a mini-tank in and of himself, but it would be unfair other players. I think that it would be best to keep in with what the FAQ says, official or not, because then your opponent wont have anything to fall back on, saying it was illegal or wasnt fair, when your techmarine whips the crap out of thier army!Originally Posted by ShadowZora13
I would still love to see a full-harness be able to get a jumppack or be able to ride a bike. The biggest problem with the techmarine is that he is too SLOW and therefore isnt allowed to live upto his potentiall repairing power. Yes it is possible to give the servo-arm techmarine a jumppack or bike to increase thier speed, but they loose the ability to take servitiors which decreases his chance to actually fix the vehicle. giving him the harness only gives him a re-roll, which isn't by any means fool-proof, but would certainly help given his lack of servitors. Our only available option for a repair-oriented techmarine seems to be a rhino/razorback to give him the wanted mobility, harness or not. I'd personally go with a rhino. Theres just something gleefully ironic about a techmarine and retinue riding in a vehicle that has the same repair ability as they do (rhinos can attept ro repair its immobilized status on a roll of 6+ LOL!)
Don't get me wrong, please go ahead and take a servo-arm techmarine in a jumppack or bike, they make wonderful support units! They automatically get two wounds, a bolter, signum re-roll, auspex, powerweapon, additional powerfist attack, and the repair ability to boot (just in case it might be useful). All of this he gets at reduced points costs. (if you care to do the math, he would cost at least 77 points if you gave him all of his equipment or equivalents thereof from the armory, saving you at least 10 points, if not more)
Morover, the models are, hands down, some of the awesomest and purely coolest models in the CM range, probably only rivaled by the newest chaplains and arguably some special characters.
I love the idea of a Techmarine on a bike, espically that the servo-arm is coming off of the bike itself. I'd use the Honor Guard Techmarine Torso and Honour Guard Techmarine Power Axe for the rider and Space Marine Techmarine Servo Arm 2 for the servo-arm. Maybe throw an Iron Hands Iron Father Shoulder Pad (of course filing off the Iron Hands symbol, unless your playing Iron Hands that is) on the arm he's steering the bike with, just for the coolness factor of having the servo-skull resting on his shoulder. For a techmarine with jump pack, again i'd use the same body and power axe, but use the Iron Hands Iron Father Claw for the servo-arm, resting it inbetween the jumppack thrusters (some carving and gluing required). It would give the techmarine a wonderfully imposing figure, espically if placed on a flying base!
Anyways, I hope I've helped you out a little bit, and good luck with your Techmarine Biker! May the Ommnissah bless your endeavors!
those were the biz I was intending to use(cept for the command squad servo arm, and I already have them. I am also getting 2 old command squad techmarines for FREE say hello to company champ, vet serg, and techmarine biker backpack! All I need to do now is deisgn a mounting for the servo harness, maybe get a techmarine backpack new stye, maybe just chop the antenae off the one i got, and use it as a base. Now it'd be really cool if I could magnatize all of this so if some one has a fit over it, I could pop ot of (or not, and keep it for asthetics) and put the pts elsewhere.
