    Assassin's

Can my vanilla SM army field an Assassin if I take an Inquisitor/Lord.

    Any restrictions apply?

    Thanks guys

Also do I need just the WH codex to field them?

You need either the DH codex or the WH codex (the assassins are the same, the inquisitor lords are a little different).

I'm not certain about the WH codex, but the DH codex allows you to take one elite ally and one HQ ally from it, so you would have to take an inquisitor lord in the HQ slot, so that the elite slot can be used for the assassin. Otherwise, just remember that the Inq lord has access to (and only to) the armory of the codex you take him from.

    Have fun assassinating!

You have to field an inquisitor lord either with either codex as you only get one elite slot.

Everyone and there little brother wants to field assassins when they see them. Unfortunately, they are barely worth their own points let alone them AND an inquisitor lord.

You are probably right, I saw some Assassins going very cheap on Ebay and wondered why. Now I know. 130pts is a lot for a Sniper, even if the figure is very cool. Wait that is for a regular Inquistitor, OMG you would have to spend about 200pts to take a Lord and Assassin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. And thats why no one uses them.

To be fair, on occasion, in certain situations against certain oponents, the assassins can be very useful.

A culexus assassin is probably the only thing that can really mow through a large seer council.

A vindicare can be useful when you fight armies with tooled squad leaders. Particularly DE, they are much less fearsome without their agonisers.

Its just that in general its really not worth it.

Well, less than 200. if you only take the inquisitor lord and an eversor assassin(my favorite), it comes to 140 pts base.

Your Assassin is 95pts, Lord 45pts + equipment, minimum of 3 henchmen (cheapest are familiars) = *pts min. This means at the very least 158pts with no equipment and 3 crap henchmen.

    Check your Codex dude.

140 is the BASE cost. I didn't post 158 minimum, becuase it is a waste of an inquisitor to not give him good henchmen, preferably ranged servitors, a couple sages, and whatnot. I never give my Inquisitor equipment other than a gun(psycannon usually), because it usually won't do much to protect him.
And edit your post to delete the points cost for familiars. You can give the total points cost of 3 familiars but not a single familiar. Check the rules.

Whatever dude. You cannot field your Assassin for 140pts. That's all I was pointing out.

Point taken. Sorry for being a bit of a *****about the rules, just that it's better that you change it instead of a mod doing it and closing the thread.
