I'm building an IG light infantry army, and have selected special weapons squads as one of the doctrine selections. I'm trying to decide between two equipment setups (with virtually identical piont costs) for the two sws squads in the force (1000 points), and would like to hear what the forum thinks.
The two options are:
Option 1: flamer and demo charge
Option 2: x2 sniper rifles
Given that I often fight against marine-like armies, the demo charge has alot of appeal (deep striking terminators aren't an uncommon sight). On the other hand the snipers seem like they'd be useful against assassins, inquisitors, and scouts.
How do other people like to equip their sw squads? Which of the two setups do you think would most likely earn their points back?
Demo and flamers. SWS with sniper rifles rarely are worth their expense.
With their low penetration sniper rifles must be used in numbers to be successful, 8-10 ratlings is the way to go if you wanna use them.
I agree with this. If you want snipers to be effective, you need lots of them. Plus, ratlings give you more snipers and they are better, and cheaper.Originally Posted by Hermann Morr
So, if you're going with a SPS, I would take the demo charge. It is one of the most ridiculous pieces of wargear available to us.
