    Terminator Love

Hmmm ok so in perusing back issues of WD i stumbled across issue 303 in which the battle report that month is 1500 points between SM's and Necrons. The Necron force is pretty standard, but the SM force directly reflects what im looking for. The problem is i don't understand it.

He doesnt have the required 2 troop choices from what i can tell....

    Here is his list:

    Marneus Calgar
    Terminator Armor
    Bionics
    Terminator Honors
    Gauntlets of Ultramar

    Terminator Command Squad
Sarge w Storm Bolter and Power Sword
1 Term w Cyclone missle Launcher, Storm bolter, Chainfist
    2 Term's w Storm Bolters, Powerfists

    Land Raider
2 Twin Linked Lascannons and Twin Linked Heavy Bolter

    Epistolary
    Terminator Armor
    Psychic Hood
    STorm Bolter
    Force Weapon
    Storm of the Emporers Wrath
    Vortex of Doom

    Terminator Assault Squad
    Sarge w Lightning Claws
    2 Term's w Lightning Claws
    2 Term's w Thunder Hammers and SS's

    Terminator Squad
Sarge w Storm Bolter adn Power Sword
1 Term w Storm Bolter and Chainfist
2 Term's w STorm Bolters and Power Fists
2 Term's w Assault Cannons and Power Fists

    Terminator Squad
Sarge w Storm Bolter and Power Sword
1 Term w Heavy Flamer and Power Fist
1 Term w Storm Bolter and Chainfist
2 Term's w Storm Bolters and Power Fists

Thats it, 1500 points exactly. Hows he getting around the no troops? Calgar, and the command squad start on table in the Land raider...everythign else Deep Strikes.

Yeah i know the list your talking about. Unfortunately that was a special one off list that was created for that scenario and really was a way for them to show off the new terminator models. The only official terminator army is the Deathwing from the Dark Angels codex. Or you could create the above list but have two small scout squads for your miniumum requirements.

No Scion of Mars doesnt give terminators as troops choice.

Your gonna need two troops. There is the Dark Angels that you may want to try out, though.

For your current list two small squads of scouts might work to fill in the troop slots like southernagle said.

    Cheers!

That list is not legal and was only used for that scenario.

You CAN play an all termie list, but must use DA rules for it and so can not use calgar or any other UA only units like honor guard.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:

    1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant

    2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers

    3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC

I remember that list; I read it too. They used deathwing rules for that list, but left out the stubborn part for their termies...

Could be worse. They could have played it with DW led by lysander....

Grr it irritates me that WD would use an army list that wasn't even legal so as to further confuse noob's like myself.

I suppose i could use that same list, use Lysander instead of Calgar, and add two small scout troops, but that kills the full Term theme. A friend at work plays DW so i was trying to stay away from that ruleset.

They probably referred to the First (Veteran) Company. which is a terminator army. there are no tules afaik, but it's done fluffwise i think.
