I think i remembersomeone posting a similar thread, but i couldnt find it, so Ill just post this! How many dreadnoughts do you have in your space marine army?? Is it good to have more then 1? Also if there are any SW or BA players out there....what do you use them for?(support, fire, etc?) I already have a dread w/assaultcannon/CCW and i have another for my ultras...which I didnt even play with..discontinued them, and taking them apart slowly. Dont know what to do about the dread so Im looking to add him into my SW army(after I finish re-painting him codex-grey, my style) Do you think I should do this?
Including my 'chaos' dreds, I have eight of them. For my loyalists they are all able to swap out any of their weapons for the given situation. With my chaos dreds....well this is a normal marine forum, no one here needs bother with what those four are armed with...

Three. All the weapon arms are painted but never glued on hence I can swap and change weapon options. Though I've only ever used them all once in a 2000k game. Usually take one, sometimes two, in a 1500k games.
Fire support option
TLLC / Missile launcher, XA, Sm, SL.
Drop pod option
Acannon / DCCW / heavy flamer, XA, Sm. Drop Pod.
General purpose option A
TLLC / DCCW / Stormbolter, XA, Sm.
General purpose option B
Acannon / Missile launcher, XA, Sm.
[edit:I love the model. But hate the base. Looks crazy when three Dreads are all on the same bit of cracked concrete. Wish GW would sell the 60mm flat bases individually.]

Current armies: Deathwing and Grey Knights (I'd have more if my wife would let me)
4 Mk IV torsos, 2 normal plastic ones. 6 Asscannon, 4 TLLC, 4 ML, 6 CCW, each with stormbolter. But I play Iron hands, so I like dreads.
I have and use two. Taking one dread can be very dangerous for him, especially if you don't have any other tanks or other large items for the enemy to focus on.
Maximus - Assault Cannon / CCW / Heavy Flamer (all glued on, I know better now)
Chontosh - Inferno Cannon / Assault Cannon / Missle Launcher / TL LasCannon R / TL LasCannon L / TL Heavy Bolters / TL AutoCannon / CCW (Magnetized)
Bolter Blasting Blizzard = Victory
I have heed the wisdom of the ancients so i have 6. 1 is a metal one w/ multi melta and DCCW, then the other 5 are normal plastic one's w/ no weapons glued on.
2000pts Orks 4-2-1
I have one for each army:
Dark Angels - TLL/ML
Ultramarines - AC/DCCW
I plan to get a second DA Dread when I start my Deathwing army.
War Record Since Sept 2005
Old Codex 48-20-9 Dark Eldar
New Codex 1-0-0 Dark Eldar
I have two. One with Assault Cannon and power claw. One with TL Las and Rockets.
Neither get used often....just like the fluff XD
My dreads are the only two things I'm keeping from my marine army while it gets sold off. They will be in the new army when its bought though.

Cool you guys, i was thinking about putting a second dread in my SW army, in elites, and i was wondering if i should. both the Hq and elite will have assault cannon/CCW...is tha good enuff?Or should I just stick with 1 dread? (2300 pt army)
Also for the extra armour part..i can just stick a piece of tracks on it on one area and call it extra armour right?
welll as far as the ea is concerned you could do that or just a peice of foam cor eon it's front armour
also i have 6 in my army
