I run a terminator heavy force with lysander, I would like to run 1 squad of each kind of termies(i.e heavy flamer, assault cannon, cyclone, and assualt).
I just have to get the assualt termies, would it be cheesy to run allied GK termies with my imperial fists or should i just go with regular assualt termies.
I run 4 squads of 6 termies(2 assualt cannon squads, 1 heavy flamer w/lib and 1 cyclone w/ lysander), landraider, dready, and 2 min. scout squads.
I figure im gonna get hit on comp neway or draw sneers from everyone.
Any advice welcome.
bah cheesy, nothing wrong with cheesy. There are counters to everything in this game.
3 dev squads with 4 plasma cannons each and lascannon razorbacks will make geneseed jello out of your termies and probably cost less
GK Termies beat Assault Termies any day. As compared to LC termies. They get a page of special rules, S6 WS5, and still strike at I. Against TH assault termies, same things except strike before Thunderhammers, adn still wound most troops on a 2+, but will hit more often. Grey Knight Termies definitely win. If you're out of elite slots with your current force, then just take the termies as a retinue to a GK Hero. Personally, an all terminator army seems very easy to beat for most opponents, but if its what you like, do it.
Et imperator Invocato Diabolus Daemonica Exorcist!
Trust me, an all-termie army can be a hard nut to crack. In the end it has to come down to close-combat powerweapons, because it's the only thing they will die to fast enough (unless you have demolisher cannons...)
"I have died a thousand deaths, and I will die a million more..."
oh i dunno 12 plasma cannons can bust even a predator easily, seeing as you roll 2 6s on average.
Ive seen 1 plasma cannon kill an entire squad of 5 drop podding assault termies.
All you need is a few minimum tac squads with lascannons and las razorbacks to add to the dev squads. You dont even need elites or fast attack. That many las cannons will pop a land raider easy unless it sticks to cover the whole way up, which can be very slow. same with any vehicle.
If the termies deep strike or pod in, they take 12 plasma cannons and 3 lascannons to the face. plus a possible 12 extra lascannons, not pretty!
Just a note: you can only have up to two units of allied GKT: one Elite squad, and one as a bodyguard for a GK Hero in an HQ slot. Not that you should ever try and take more than that!
Oh, another note: by including GK, you also give your opponent a) sustained assault for Daemon packs and b) the option to legally include Daemon packs or Greater Daemons. This applies to EVERY army you face, not just Chaos. Most people won't pay the points for those Daemons because they'd have to drop something in return, but every now and then...
And finally, I overheard a debate at my local store about if Lysander's special teleport rule applies to allied models (ie, GK Terminators). Now, I own both codices and it appears to me that the rule DOES apply. But a lot of locals disagree with it. I guess it comes down to what counts as "Lysander's army".
Anyone know for sure?
Good question, i have seen people go either way on thsi one too. I prolly would end up deepstriking them serperatly or just putting them in an LRC tilll i know for sureOriginally Posted by mEGALOMANIAC
