A buddy of mine who switched to IG gave me his land raider, however, when he built it he put 2 side las cannons, a hunter killer, the front frag launchers and an assault cannon on top. So it would seem he made a combination of the normal land raider and the crusader. When I asked him he said he bought the crusader box, but why would it come with side las cannons if the codex doesn't give an upgrade option for them? Is there any way I can adjust the points to field my version or do I need to remove the assault cannon for bolters or the las cannons for hurricane bolters? Also how hard do you think it would be to make the parts interchangable so I could use either or based on the mission/opponent?
gotsta pick one or the other. The box comes with both because GW is on a bits kick (which is nice), and I don't think it'd be very hard to make them interchangeable; I know a guy who does that...i think involving magnets, but I'm not positive on the process.
De gustibus non est disputandum.
The Imperium Emporium: Jeb's Imperial Curiosities plog, starting with Grey Knights!
You could use the vehicle design rules that are floating around in a few sources (I think the '04 Chapter Approved book has them.) I believe they're out of date... but you'd need permission to use them regardless so that's not terribly significant. More significant is that it is quite likely that once you create the land raider that you're looking at, it's going to be obscenely expensive (more so than a regular one.) Still, you can give it a shot.
You play your game, I'll play mine.
GW includes both because the las cannons are on a sprue with other land raider bits. all the crusader stuff comes in a little box. it is not terribly hard to make the two swappable, but will require a bit of cash on your part.
Take life seriously, its lethal.
