I have and idea of assault CC army that is based around two squads of bikes (one scout, one standard + character on bike), infiltrating tactical squad and character leading jump assault squad. In 1500 points, there could be place for some additional mobile firesupport (speeder, predator, dready) but main body of army will be about reaching CC as soon as possible.
What do you think about this conception? Would bikes complement assault squads and infiltrating CC squads or they are just point sink and I should go for infiltrating command, veterans or even risk rhino coffin?
Bikes are heavy on the points but are a good adition to an army. Someone once said he used his Bike squads like crazy (three fast attack, 4 troops) backed up by land speeders. Don't under estimate them.
Because you said you have an assault squad with attached characxter, and not said that it wasn't a Chaplain with a Powerfist, the carbon-copy nazis will not come knocking. I INVOKE GODWIN'S LAW!
I like the idea personally. It's an interesting way to play.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
One of the guys who works at my local store is making an army based around as many bikes as possible, now that scares me as you can get in combat on the first turn (yes ok if luck rolls your way) add the really low invunrable save and some nasty combos you can make with characters on bikes its a good idea, the only problem you may have is your assault squads might get left behind if you turbo forwards with your bikes.
Its would be a great army to see on the table and it would really give the opponent something to worry about.
As for command squads i think they are overrated. Iv played one person who had one and its not to good when quiet a point heavy squad is caught between a few dreadnoughts and land speeders.
Go for some land speeders for fire support. They can keep up with your bikes and can dishout some of that rending goodness that we all love so much
Good luck with the plan man, remeber if it doesnt work first time you can always change things i doubt anyones got a perfect army first time.
Ok, I have thic concept

Librarian on bike (frags, honours) Plasma or bolt pistol, fear of darkness, maybe weil
Chaplain with Jump pack (frags, honours) Plasma or bolt pistol
Veteran Squad, Melta, 8xCCW, sergeant PF+bp infiltrate
Assault jump squad, 2 plasma, 7xCCW, sergeant PF+bp, furious charge (+Chaplain)
Scouts 4x sniper rifle, Missile launcher
Tactical squad 3x bolter, Las, plas infiltrate
Bike squad, 2xmeltagun, sergeant PF+bp, (+Librarian)
scout bike squad 2xBp+meltabombs, sergeant PF+BP
Destruktor, HB sponsons, storm bolter
Tactics will be to move with all squads to enemy (scouts and lasplas shooting from cover) and had him to either spilt fire between dangerous assault, deadly librarian bikers, fast scouts and resilient veterans or to concentrate and kill one unit and being assaulted by others) destruktor and tornado will hopefully stay low priority targets or they draw away heavy weapons from targetting weaker bikers.
Only scout bikers have the ability to get into combat on the first turn and only if you are playing standard deployment and board size (15" deploy zones, 24" seperating deploy zones).Originally Posted by Easy G
No other unit in the SM codex can make a first turn charge.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
Off course, but scout bikes can tie most dangerous shooty squad in first turn (devastator equivalent) and with some luck and powerfist hold until infiltrators/jump packs/other bikers arrive
Im working on the list now, but dont know if it is better to have more bikes in squads or an additional predator destructor (against those units I dont want to meet in cc in full power - genestealers, banshees...)
Ok, I have two basic variants, dont know whitch one is better
