I have the Daemonhunters Codex.Wha tI get is that TheGK are a very secret orgaination. So how secret are they? Who would know them? Who would think that they exist? I look at it this way you can have Space MArines or Imperial Guard in your army list. One would think that there might be something amiss.
Very few outside of inquisitors, high lords and space marine chapter masters would be aware of their existence. To know of them is to know about the existence of chaos - and that is frowned on.
Guardsmen are usually executed or put into slave labour if they survive fighting alongside the grey knights against chaos, and even space marines would have their memory of the encounter erased lest the taint of chaos corrupt them.
They only turn up to counter daemonic infestations, which are very rare...

Basically, only those with reason to know of them (Inquisitors, major military segmentum commanders, etc.), Military leaders (basically the various army's HQ choices), and those who have fought beside them and lived through the conflict (not too likely, IMHO..).
Just referencing the novels, at one point a rogue Inquisitor convinces an entire hive world plus its defenders that the GK's are in fact Chaos Marines, and nobody knows otherwise until the SoB Cannoness recognizes Justicar Alaric as a GK while they're trying to remove each other's heads.
So yeah, your Inquisitors, your lords of the Administratum and Segmentum Generals would know, plus your Chapter Masters/Cannonesses/IG Generals (think Marneus Calgar, Ursarkar E. Creed, Commissar Yarrick, etc...), plus any troopers that fought with the GK's and then both lived through the war and weren't eliminated for fear of Daemonic corruption afterwards.
Grey Knights are only supposed to be known to Ordo Malleus Inquisitors. Important Chapter masters might have heard of them, and VERY high ranking IG generals might have heard that they possibly exist. People working closely with the emperor would also know, and have had the honor of seeing them when they visit the throne room. As for fighting with grey knights, Imperial Guard are most often executed. Both to retain secrecy and destroy any taint that may have occured. Grey Knights don;t call on space marines for allies, because it costs too much time and energy to mind scrub them, and also makes them weaker afterwards. Usually when Grey Knights and Space Marines fight it is because they happen to end up in hte same place at the same time. Chapter masters don;t "call" the grey knights for help.
Et imperator Invocato Diabolus Daemonica Exorcist!
As far as I know only the Ordo Malleus and the upper echelons of the various Imperial organisations know about them, they being the only ones who can press them into service. Also, the Grey Knights aren't just for fighting daemons, they deal with renegade Smurf Chapters as well.
To answer your question, they are very very secret so be vewy vewy quiet or theyll hunt you down! ( the Elmer Fudd inquisition that is)!
The gold grey knight man. These are hardy men who like cheese.
Ever thought of how cheese was found?:

``Oooohhh, give it a go!``
''Quack, damn you!''

I'd actually disagree to a certain extent:
during the recent battles at the cadian gate, the grey knights participated in force. most of the chapter must have fought there (backed fluffwise by the novels) in countless battles and this time, the inquisition certainly didn't have the resources, time and tactical inflexibility to mindwipe or execute everyone who fought with them.
i'd say that after the 13th crusade, rumours are certainly spreading of mighty demonhunters in gunmetal armour and many of the forces engaged at the cadian gate will propably have caught a glimpse (or a story) of them as well.
they are certainly still kept as secret as possible and worlds far from the cadian gate will not learn of them, but the secret couldn't be kept so tightly after such a large scale operation as abaddons crusade.
They also are small in numbers so aren't seen by the average Imperial unit. They held to fight Chaos specifically, where and when the Imperium needs them.

Well then. If what Solomon said is true. Then they would be like either Delta Force(for the Us). or even beter Sea Spray.
Somewhere in the Daemon Hunter Codex it talks about how the GreyKnights are often unseen when they do come down though. In a major Incursion the GreyKnights (think large scale) should (fluffwise) easily be able to kill every enemy before the Guard arrives to a battle field and finds hordes of the dead with no real reason why they are dead. I don't remember where it said it, but when the greyknights come they teleport in, kill everything, and teleport out. They are secret enough that their allies don't know about them, which makes assaults on often organized or self-embattled chaos very easy. I think the GreyKnights are probably about as know as the Legion of the Damned (some kind of mythic units that pop in, kill everything and pop out).Originally Posted by Solomon
