Well, it's just like the title says. Is it worth the point sink for a Land Raider
Cursader full of assualt termies (or termies period) in a Blood Angel game over
Let me know what you all think.
I'm not sure Termies are worth the risk for Blood Angels full stop. The Death company roll can really eat through them and they cost even more than regular Termies.
"Here dead lie we because we did not choose to live and shame the land from which we sprung. Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose; but young men think it is, and we were young."
A. E. Housman
I understand the Death Company thing. But where can I find the actual cost of the
terms, I thought they cost the same as regular space marine terms?
They are the same, and probably a bit cheaper in the end, because most people that want to pile out of a Land Raider with Terminators want Furious Charge as well. Thankfully, the Blood Angels and their successors get this one for free. Don't you feel lucky?Originally Posted by Brother Luctus
No matter what chapter you play, having 8 terminators pile out of a tank that just zoomed forward, unloaded Thunderhammers or Lightning Claws galore, and can fire EVERY SINGLE WEAPON, in one turn, is definitely worth the points. However, this does get pricey once below 2000 pts.
Remember that it takes only a single lucky shot to take out a Land Raider. The Eldar and Dark Eldar have the easiest time with this, unless the Raider is of the Black Templars. If the Land Raider is even Immobilized, then those Terminators are gonna have to walk. I don't believe that the Land Raider and Terminator combo is really worth it in anything less than 3K. But that's just me.Originally Posted by Dark_Angels_Master

I figured in a 2k game it would be only a 1/4 of my total point cost.
It does worries me the tank will go out before they are in range. If anything
the other guy will have plenty to worry about too coming from my DC, 2 assualt
squads, Attack bike squadron, scouts and what have ya. The raider will be a
Crusader variant(Blood Angels do use them right?).
I see you've added more wins to you list Firedrake28. :w00t:
Do you use termies in your Flesh Tearers army Firedrake28?
I think it is totally worth the point sink. The thing about blood angels is that people are so afraid of the Death company that something like a LRC full of assault termies can get overlooked (I don't understand how) especailly if you are bringing another assault squad. You just need to make sure the LRC is behind the jump troops and probably takes cover on turn one. That way it is a difficult shot for the enemy to manuver on the first turn, and not the closest thing on the following turns which when you are being charged by furious assault jumptroops seem like they are the most deadly.
I'm also playing BA and have a land raider. Most points I've played so far is 1000 (haven't put all my models together). I worked it out other night and if I use all the models available to me which includes my land raider I can get up to 2000 pts if I include a bunch of fluff like pimping out my vet sargs and IC's and having an honor guard. I'll probably try to stream line it down to about 1500 but eventually i'd like to see a solid 2000 pts. on the board.
Yeah, it's worth it - LR's are durable for the most part, but if you're being reckless with that many points of models then you're inviting disaster. Well supported and with a Death Company to draw some attention it will give a somewhat distracted opponent.
