Hey guys, I'ma chaos player asking for help for my friend. He play Daemonhunters, but can never seem to beat my Khorne Army, and wants to know if there is something he is missing. Basically, if you have any hints or tips, or just advice, please post it here. I just want to even the odds for him. THanks in advance.
P.S. Here's a link ot my army list: Clicky (New WE Army list: HELP!).
His ability to beat your WB's has nothing to do with him playing a DH army - just because they're Daemonhunters doesn't mean they're going to win against Chaos armies. There is a grand total of two Daemon-specific weapons, one Daemon-specific item, and one Chaos-specific item in the DH armoury.
Basically, your list is one of the harder ones for DH to beat: you have Berserkers - nothing is good versus them in melee, and they reduce the GK's armor saves (and they're already overpriced!). You have two tanks - DH is notorious for its difficulties in dealing with armor. GK's stormbolters won't ignore your saves, and in combat their S6 isn't going to win vs KB's.
What lists does your friend use?
Daemonhunters have no real advantage against chaos. They have alot of things that ignore invuls. So what when khorne demons have good armor saves. Also, any anti daemon advantage the DH have is outweighed by the fact that daemons get to live twice in a DH game. If anything, your friend is probably overcompensating for he fact that you play chaos. he should take sacred incense, and maybe blessed on a TLLC/ML dread. Khorne are a tough army for DH to beat, because the normal anti demon strengths of DH agaisnt nurgle, slannesh, and tzeentch demons don't apply. Not to mention you berserkers are very tough to kill since DH have few things taht will ignore their save, let alone their save AND fel no pain. Finally, bloodletters are just plain horrible for a DH player to see. Anything that ignores armor saves is a BIG problem for us.
EDIT: didn't see your whole list when i wrote this. He shouldn't be taking any vehicles, but guard instead with heavy weapons platforms. Always leaving it up to the guard

Et imperator Invocato Diabolus Daemonica Exorcist!
That list seems like hell, Dreadnought and Landraiders ( Lascannon Carriers ) will fall to those anihilators making him anti-tank less, those "zerks" will get him..Possibly inducting an Imperial Guard Platoon with ant-tank and leaving out vehicles will be a solid choice wasting your Preds in more ways than one, maybe Storm Troopers in cover with PLasma Guns and lots of them to be cooking you zerks coming toward him. Just my advice, may not be the best.
No, that's good. To beat Khornate armies, you need a lot of plasma, and a way to either divert their charges to things that can either a) take the charge without being torn to pieces and hold the enemy still long enough for a counter-attack or b) can hit them hard enough to make sure that you don't have to deal with many attacks in the first place.Originally Posted by Gimmers
With DaemonHunters, you'll be hard pressed to really beat them toe-to-toe in close combat (just like every other army, basically), so you need to play to your strengths while jabbing at their weaknesses.
His army has the following advantages over yours:
- Grey Knights are difficult to take out at long range due to the Shrouding
- High Strength weapons on basic Knights (S6 is nasty)
- Can take a mix of low cost and effective troops and high cost and more specialized troops (Storm Troopers and Grey Knights)
- He has Sacred Incense, which will seriously hurt you if he does it right.
So... All in all, I would recommend that he allows your Berzerkers to rush his lines while he shoots you stone dead with storm bolters and plasma guns. Tell him that he needs to focus on one unit at a time and make sure that it's totally destroyed before he switches targets. You don't have any Ordnance, so his troops are mostly safe (aside from the madmen charging at them, ready to tear them to pieces), and your Predators are basically useless without any tanks to shoot. He shouldn't have a problem knocking down those 8 man units... Wish him luck, lol.
I think the way to go is two bring two fast rhinos with melta stormies to take down the tanks, use cover so that he has to move and can only take one shot with his tanks. Then bring dreds and agian make sure that he never has lines of fire to take all 3 lascannon shots at you (If you need to just hid your dreds for the first 3 turns it will be worth it just to tie up the bloodletters once they arrive). Then spend the rest of your points on GreyKnights and either a Brother captain or grandmaster without retinue. (If you really want to use everything you can take an eversor and pound his berzerkers with him, and bring a shooty inquisitor with a plasmacannon to take down the summoned daemons). I think the best way to go though is to just take as many GKs and possibly and shoot, shoot, shoot, until he gets to you then make sure he doesn't get the charge and his bloodletters end up against your drednoughts.
Lol. Thanks everyone, I'll tell him to get some IG in there.
His best bet is to take a couple IST squads and the rest GK with some psycannons. Your army is a footslogger, so he should tear your squads up pretty badly before you even get close enough to charge, especially if he concentrates his fire. PAGK are at least even in ability with berserkers as long as the berserkers dont get the charge. The IST are there as a meatshield to prevent the PAGK from getting charged. Then, the PAGK can charge the berserkers and wipe them out. This is especially true with the GM and GKT retinue who WILL be able to kill everything.
I'd recommend he should take 3 dreads, preferably with TLLC/ML, although he could just ignore your predators too.
