i know that it has the advantage of being a Str 10 which has the advantage of killing any T5 monstrosities outright..(daemon prince, nurgle etc...)
but they have a relatively short range and basically anything can blow it up befoe it can touch anything (lascannon etc..)
what is your opinion?
It all depends on the siutation.
When using the TVR, they are great, if they hit (I played against SW, and his Vindicator missed every shot it took, well, it only took 3, since it was shaken all the time )
In the Old Vehicle Rules, they are great for defense, drawing enemy fire and area denial, plus there's nothing like a Khornate DP getting insta-splattered because he got too close.
The Vindicator is a mixed bag, some like it, some hate it, I personally like it, but I still don't have one

When you are in a position to go first and are able to set up within 18" of the enemy a Vindicator is a nice way to splatter the enemy to kingdom come. In one of my games I took out three of his vehicles (Land Raider Crusader, Rhino and Razorback) in one foul swoop - of course this does not work with the new rules being that it needs to be in the centre of the blast marker (I think - don't really use those rules yet). When I also took out those vehicles, I rolled two sixes as well so destroyed his units as well in two of the vehicles. By the end of that turn I can tell you that he was mighty peeved. If you are playing Space Wolves, the odds are just that little bit greater to go first if you have a Venerable. So odds are best to have both a Venerable and a Vindicator in the same organisation - although not greatly.
Yeah it really depends on the Army. But there are some armies it is better in performing against than others. For Example you would be suicidal to take it against the I.G or Tau, they outrange you and they excel in Armour Combat. Vs armies like the Tyranid, Eldar and Orcs the Vindicator comes into its own. Vs Orcs and Tyranid I have found it extremely effective as both there armies tend to "bunch up" creating whole amounts of fun for the Ordanance Template. Just when you take one, please have Tac.Squads covering her nothing nastier than a Hive Tyrant with wings flying into the soft and fleshy rear of the Vindicator and tearing it asunder (starts sobbing). Anyway, it does purely depend on the situation. However I have found them particularly useful in Cityfights.
vindicators are good because they get straight shot str 10 ordonace but there bad because people go straight after the ordanace in an army.
playing a game this weekend.
shot my vindicator. it scattered. killed a squad of ig and wait for it my LandRaider.
the land raider proceeded to exploed kill 3 more squads of ig it had just tank shocked into and three assault marines.
Moral of the story, great for firepower but watch your shots if you have anything within twelve inches.
on a side note it has started me thinking. run a rhino into ig lines blow it up with a vindicator and use the devestation to get an even wider arc of death. what you think completly anti-fluff but it might work?
It's a cheap weapon that will always be the target of the enemy. Roll it into some cover, and I'd almost guarantee every heavy weapon in your opponents army will worry about it.
Otherwise, demolishers aren't all they're cracked up to be. Killed some big stuff with mine though .
Mooing peacefully since 1996!

I say no. It will almost always get destroyed before it gets a chance to fire; is Ordnance, so it cant move and shoot. On the other hand, my 13th Company are terrified of the things, as the main way i blow vehicles up is in Close Combat. Getting close enough for close combat with a ordnance weapon gets kinda hot!
