Hey, i was wondering if this would be a good heavy support choice, i have a battle tank and a basilisk, do you think my last choice should be a demolisher? With there short range and all it could be kind of a waste, but TWO plasma cannons, a demolisher cannon, and i think a lascannon to me just says TAKE ME!
I recomend the Demolisher with the load out that you suggested. Take smoke launchers as well because you will need to use your first turn to get that cannon into firing range.
It's worth a krak!

They seem to be the 3 favourite HS set ups.
The Demolisher can be a great addition to the long range support you already have. With the big Demo Cannon slowly trundling towards them, the enemy often takes pot shots at the Demolisher. This means that your leman Russ is more likely to survive and get more Battlecannon shots in.
Also the cannon is very powerful, there isn't much that can withstand a direct hit from one.
However I prefer 3 HBs on all Leman variants. 9 shots whilst still moving 6" is lovely! Plasma cannons are pricey and blast weapons (non ordance) arn't amazing.
Check this thread. Its all about arming the Demolisher.

I would agree with whats already been said, the demolisher will draw allot of fire from the enemy due to its dangerous armanent, but is tough enough to take most of what comes its way, points spent here should prolong the survivalof any other armoured vehicles and possibly do some damage with its demolisher cannon.
I have gone to the Offensive version of the tank more latetly, because of the points, and I like to move mine.
If I had to choose first, I would add another standard Russ first, and then a Demolisher.

I would stick with something basic like a Leman Russ Battle Tank and a Basilisk because of the lower points. I also give my platoons some anti-tank weapons so I would have some power over support units. I would do this instead of buying the stuff for a Demolisher unless your buying it online because I believe it is cheaper.(at least where I live)
That's the setup I always give my demolisher. It's good to give it some longrange weapons so it has something to do before the enemy gets close.Originally Posted by Lusipius
But, lately I have been having my doubts about the demolisher, too. It will definitely be the number one target on the field, in all battles. Because of this, mine always blows up pretty quickly. Some people say it's good because it draws fire away from the rest of your army... but the Demolisher is one expensive decoy!
It comes down to personal play style. I think the Demolisher is good for a mobile, aggressive army, but if you want to sit back and wait for the enemy to come to you, then the longer range tanks are better,
Also, if your opponents have a hard time with AV-14, the Demolisher might stand a good chance. For some reason, my tanks always go down really quickly though...

I go with the Las/Plas demolisher aswell, but even though statistics say it'll survive a few shots, mine always goes down to a missile launcher's first shot. It's expensive so it draws alot of fire, but kitted this way, it's also rather stationary, so I'm getting another sometime and kitting it out with tripple heavy bolters instead, it's cheaper, but you can also play alot more offensively with it, roaming forward firing heavy bolters untill something juicy gets within 24" which does seem like more fun to play.
Though don't ditz the Las/Plas Demo - it's a monster.
My demolisher is currently kitted out with 2HB + LC ... however I just aquired 4 more HBs for tanks so all my tanks will be driving around with 3 HBs... now I need to modify my boys.
well, I'd take a second russ, or bassie, because it's usually a good idea to have a vehicle twice.
If you want to field a demolisher, get 3 HB since you'll move in order to get in range with the demolisher cannon, and Plasmacannons as well as lascannons are S7+ so they count as primary weapons, meaning you can only fire ONE if you move. Paying for plasmacannons AND a lascannon is a great waste of point as you can only fire one of 'em.
However, if you like to have a strong weapon besides the cannon, get HB sponsons and a hull Lascannon, then you have the option to fire all of them (HBs beeing secondary weapons), though I really recommend the 3 HBs, since you can fire all of them on the move.
And remember, the BF is 3, so you'll only hit 50% of the time and a blast weapon is not that grat since most players will spread their modells out if they play against guard so the 3" template will barley hit more than 1-2 models.
