I have decided to get a third exorcist for my WH army. They do so well and another one would be great. The two I have right now are standard GW models, (you know, the ones that are 99% metal )
Anyways, this one will be a conversion using a whirlwind.
My question is has anyone done this and what did they do? I'm looking to do a radical conversion, something better than merely putting a whirlwind turret on an immolator chassis.
Anyways, this project will take time but I'll post up pixs as the progress comes along!

Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that before - and I actually have the Immolator and Whirlwind parts on the table right now. Off to planning
My third Exorcist is a Rhino with a removeable hatch.Originally Posted by gen.nehring

Plug and play.
(All my hatches are interchangeable, actually. I learned this while a tank-freak with IG).
You could call it a hack job, but I wanted something less common than the Whirl Wind bit.
After reading a lot of the hails of the performance of the Exorcist, I've decided to use them in sets of 2 and 3, going forward. I wasn't too terribly impressed with using a single Ex, but I've been sufficiently convinced that two Exs are 3 times as effective as one.
I think the real thing to pay attention to in the conversion is to somehow make the front look worthy of its AV13 rating. I think Diamond Plate really says "tough surface" very well.
I believe Basilisk Platforms have the Diamond Plate Texture. But cutting it and fitting it wont' be easy. Painted on Rivets create a "tough" look on a metal plate. Maybe an abundance of rivets at the seams might say "AV13".

My conversion will use the original Exorcist's plates on the sides and front (so all 5). It costed as much as getting the real thing in the mail (Immolator + plates + Whirlwind tubes) but I wanted my second one to look unique to some extend...
And it should look like AV13
well about 3 weeks ago i bought a whirlwind and an exorcist (and i had a spare rhino sprue somewhere aswell) and i went together making a rhino and 2 exorcists. and now they are all painted (minus that grey highlight.. i might do that today lol)
exorcist #1 was the normal metal exorcist minus the 4 metal side panels. (they make the thing look way too bold IMO)
exorcist #2 was a whirlwind with the exorcist metal side plates stuck on.
rhino was a normal rhino with the dozor blades SOB storm bolter and SOB symbols on the side doors.
then i applied some nice bits and pieces from the IMMO sprue and there i had it
i was put off by the over-the-topness of the metal exorcist but i didnt want to not have it in my army... i thought 2 whirlwinds would look more... militaristic... yeah but in the end after my conversions both exorcists look individual IMO without one looking too over the top than the other (that organs pretty mental) and in some ways the whirlwind exorcist looks beefier than the normal one
ps imo the chaos 6 tube missile pod thingy look way too small (no offence to people who have used it tho)

Exiled until 5thED redo...
I tried that idea (with missile pods on the side of the turret where the Immolator weapons go) but it looked too wide and not nice at all. I decided to go with a standard Whirlwind setup but with lots of purity seals and icons on the launchers. Also, I think of making the front immolator turret top-closed and about half the height to make it look like a control or targetting piece for the missiles... If I can find bits to make it soOriginally Posted by MiketehFox
Well, I didn't mean to simply slap them on as found on the Whirlwind, but eh, it seems your way worked for you.
I wouldn't stick them on the side as you've got this little turrent and little weapon support to hold up these huge missile pods, I'd try to make them fit the the turret more.
I made my exorcist turrets by glueing two typhoon launchers to each other and mounting them on a home made base.

You could use the ring on the Immolator sprue (next to the tall flag) and the body insert next to it, put the clear top on that, and put it in the front as the lookout. Heck, you could add the pintle mounted storm bolter too if so inclined. That would work real well with the higher profile of the Whirlwind turret being as tall as it is.Originally Posted by SmokWawelski
