Is LOS blocked to/from a skimmer behind area terrain, if yes, what size does the terrain have to be 2 or 3?

"Here dead lie we because we did not choose to live and shame the land from which we sprung. Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose; but young men think it is, and we were young."

I beleive that terrain does block line of sight to skimmers in the same way as it does tanks, in which case size 2 + 3 terrain pieces will block LOS to/from the skimmer. I assume this is because skimmers fly low on the battlefield (indeed allot like grav tanks only hover a few feet off the ground)..... If there is any confusion then at the start of a game just declare with your opponent which terrain pieces will and wont block LOS to the skimmers....
Hope that helped!
Skimmers are vehicles, hence they are size 3. Trees, shrubs, and bushes, won't help as they are size 2. As size 3 > then size 2 trees won't help them at all. And if the skimmer is going 6"+ it's glancing anyway so 'hull-down' is rather pointless. So you have to be really freaking careful where you move them or they are toast.
May your aim be true, and your targets plentiful.
The size of terrain is whatever you decide it is before the game. Trees can certainly be size 3 terrain. That's how my group has always played it, at least.Originally Posted by Escaflowne

Name none of the fallen, for they stood in our place, and stand there still in each moment of our lives.

Same here. Round these parts an area tarrain "forest" is size 3. I mean really, trees are taller then tanks. Its not a stretch of the imagination at all.
Also, its always a good idea to have a nice mix of terrain. some broken buildings, some forests maybe a lone standing wall somewhere. some sandbags. A nice mix makes for an interesting game as does rolling scatter for terrain after you and your oponent each place half the pieces.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
you can opt to hover above the terrain and if you do so you will be size 4. Which means you can see everything but everything can see you too.
Don´t mess with the dicegod
Skimmers ALWAYS FLY ABOVE TERRAIN in fourth edition, so you don't have the choice of "entering" the terrain.Originally Posted by dicegod
Terrain only blocks MEV (model eye view). Area terrain blocks to the height class. Huge difference. All vehicles are size 3. So if the vehicle is BEHIND size three area terrain, it cannot be seem by anyone on the board.
heights don't stack. but you may use the height of the terrain you are on. So if you're on a size three building, your swarm, infantry, vehicles are now size three for LOS, meaning they can see over size two area terrain.
All page refs for this are p 7, 16, 17, 20, 21.
And area terrain is whatever size you class it. You can have size three grass. or size 1 buildings. It's up to you to discuss this before game, as per the bgb.
