Okay here is the tale so far, two close planets in a newly found universe, deep within one of the planets Necron were sleeping, they have awoken to find their planet infested with 'nids. The nid's are bieng eradicated by Guard, Necrons tear into both of them, on the same planet Marines have just arrived, they were sent to re-inforce the guard and to eradicate all xenos life-forms. One the sister planet is the second part of the space marine force, one half was sent to secure this planet also, upon landing they discovered a chaos army had made it's home here. Daemonhunters were called in and upon arrival heard reports the Space Marines have gone insane and are on a murdering rampage, killing everyone. So in short thats are campaign, we have maps and points etc
The problem is we have one turn left, i have 37 points and am second in first place is a guy with 39 points. He plays space marines really well, I play daemonhunters. I am trying for both his space ports (big points), but will definately need some advice on beating him. Also everyone else wants me the beat the guy so everyone is looking to me to win, so I really need help.
Points are 1,000
His army usually has one ***** of a hq (MASTER OF SANCTITY) with a GOOD retinue, they are usually in a razorback.
He has 2 troops squads with plasma cannons and plasma pistols.
then either a good unit of termies or units of cmbat marines
My list has changed many times, I have about 16 knights, I could get another 10 if necessary, I have 2 rhinos and 30 stormtroopers, I have grey knight heros and lots of termies, 2 dreadnoughts, 1 land raider, 1 vindicare assassin and 1 callidus, 2 inquisitors, 1 is a lord and loads of retinue guys. So I have most of the componants of the army, so I think it is my playing strategy and army lists
My last list had, 2 units of 8 knights, 3 units of 6 stormtroopers, 1 callidus, 1 really shooty inquisitor lord and retinue for HQ, and that was against a chaos player who used a defiler, and I won
So please people give me advice, what type of stuff should I use, all will be appreciated
Well, those IST are good, but make sure to give them special weapons - I'd say 2x plasma in maybe two of the units and 2x melta in the third. I'd max out the GK squads if possible - BA tend to take a toll in melee, so you'll need the numbers. My last list had, 2 units of 8 knights, 3 units of 6 stormtroopers, 1 callidus, 1 really shooty inquisitor lord and retinue for HQ, and that was against a chaos player who used a defiler, and I won
One option is to drop the Lord & assassin for a lone GK BC, whom can be stuck into one of the PAGK units. Then grab a Dreadnought or two for support. One Assault Cannon/DCCW would be massively helpful, as would a Plasma Cannon/Missile Launcher or Plasma Cannon/DCCW to ignore those armor saves in a template. I'd probably take a DCCW over the Missile Launcher on any Dread build, considering the points levels and that your GK will need the support in melee. Basically, anything that you can take that ignores 3+ saves will help you here.
Make sure to take as many grey knights as possible you need hte CC help, maybe a temrie retinue, and you definetly need the 2 dreads one with Ac and CCW the other like megalo said with plasma cannon and CCW 9 you WILL use the CCW weapons, trust me), I think the dreads and the str 6 grey knights can take care of the pred, but you need some fire support, take I.S.T's with plasma, psycannons MIGHT be useful but due to their cost just get pplain GK, just get 2 squads of 10 GK and a hero with some dreads and either a shooty =I= or 10x I.S.T's with 2x plasma guns.
The gold grey knight man. These are hardy men who like cheese.
Ever thought of how cheese was found?:
`` I say sah, the milk in this barrel smells foul!``
``Oooohhh, give it a go!``
''Quack, damn you!''
