Despite the fluff which states that the chimera is supposed to be one of the most versatile tanks in the imperium (ie: the chasis is used for a variety of models). But when it comes to using it as a transport it really doesn't have many options. this needs to be changed. So here's a couple of my idea:
Idea one: give the option to replace the 6 hull lasguns with 2 sponsons.
Idea two: Give the option to replace tge 6 hull lasguns with open fireing ports. The vehicle would be considered open topped for the purposes of reslolving shooting attacks, but all troops inside may fire their weapons durring the shooting phase.
Idea three: let the lasguns fire at different squads than the chimera itself and let the guns on either side fire at different units (ie: the three on the port side can fire at one unit on the port side, the three on the starboard side can fire at an entirely different unit on its side, and the tank itself can fire at a third
these would obviously have to be a little more expensive, but I have yet to actually see someone use those gun's to any effective use. what do you think?
Does anybody else have any ideas?
Option two sounds great, but you would have to charge allot for option 1...... 4 heavy bolters (one twin linked) and a heavy stubber, ouch!!
You could also try a wheeled scout variant, which could reduce transport capactiy but make it a fast vehicle.....
Inquistion force WIP. Pics on posts 17 and 23.
You can already do that, since it's the squad inside that's firing and not the chimera itself. The lasguns are considered firing ports. These lasguns however do have to shot at the same target as any weapon you might fire through the top-hatch.Originally Posted by Korim Trucebane
As for chimera ideas; Increase pointcosts by 10, give it side armour 11.
I think the versitility refers to the chassis rather than the transport vehicle itself. Most of the vehicles available to the guard are based on it (bassilisk, hellhound, hydra etc)Originally Posted by Korim TrucebaneI think it would be fluffier to allow the salamander to transport 5 people rather than make a chimera variant to do it (but it amounts to the same thing)Originally Posted by Cripsin
