i am starting to play space marines and have compiled a list can u ppl give ur advice on it. i want the list to be assault oriented (i have no prior assault knowlege play shooty necrons:shifty: ). anyway here goes:
Chappy (attaches to 1 assault squad)
crozius, jump pack, artificer armor, master crafted weap, melta bombs, terminator honors, plasma pistol, rosarius
4 scouts w/blot pistol and ccw
1 sergeant w/terminator honors, power weap, bolt pistol, mastercrafted weap. artificer armor
9marines w/7bolters 1 flamer 1 missile
1 sergeant bolt pistol ccw
tac squad(same as above)
assault squad(attaches to Chappy)
4 assault marinesw/melta bombs, ccw x4 plasma pistol x2 bolt pistol x 2
sergeant w/ terminator honors, power fist master crafted weap, combat shield, artificer armor, bolt pistol
Assault squad(same as above)
it is rough but this is it. its around 1050pts
over all its a decent startting point. Good HQ and troop base, If you are happy with the melta bombs, keep them, but id try and find a more dedicated tank hunting unit and let your assault marines and chappy rip through infantryOriginally Posted by gundam436
Space Marines are the gateway drug
If everyone makes fun of West Virginia, who does West Virginia make fun of?
Personal opinion, but if you are taking artificer armor and terminator honours think about playing terminators instead. Having all your special weapons mastercrafted seems a bit excessive, your scouts will die fast, (at least mine always do, its what they do best) The artificer on him is good, until you get down to just him, and he is constantly taking last man standing tests.
Melta bombs are nice, but you want your chappie fighting close combats, not assaulting vehicles (which occasionally blow up in your face), i would go with more anti-vehicle weaponry. Its much easier to blow things up from a distance.
Read the flamer tactica, never have a flamer in a footslogging squad. It just doesn't do the job, spend the extra few points and go plas or melta.
Thats just my simple opinion. Otherwise its a decent start for your basis. If you play traits take blessed be the warriors. It costs a few more extra points for your assault guys, but its worth it.
nooby question but was is an LST. and would a dreadw/assault cannon and ccw in drop pod be advisabe as an add-on

Land Speeder Tornado
Dread - assault cannons are one of the most effective weapons, do you really want him sitting in reserve? If you want a wicked close combat go with the furious dread, from the Blood angels.
Though LST could meant the typhoon or tempest variant.
why not call them LSTor
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
True enough. I just have not read anyone on the forums suggesting anything but the tornado. Its apparently the best thing to have by most opinions. And for 80 points 7 ap4 shots...
the land speeder sounds good for the list but i im not sure of dred w/ccw and assault cannon or a dred with tllc and ML for "tank hunting"
speeder sounds good but i dunno if i should get a ccw ac dread or a tllc ML dred for tank hunting
Chappy: I like the jump pack chaplain, i run one similar, but yours is a lot of points, you can lose the master crafted, the plasma pistol, and prolly the melta bombs...
Scout squad: i'd lose the some of the vet sgt's wargear in favor of a powerfist
Tac squad: again i'd try to get the sergeants powerfist, you should be able to get some points from reducing the gear on other characters, also flamers kinda suck maybe go with a melta gun, still an assualt weapon, better range, and gives you some anti-tank. also assualt based tac squads need some transport, either rhino or drop pods. also i'd take out the missle guy, squads should have one purpose, assualt or shoot.
Assualt squads: I'm in agreement that you should combine them, give them better chance to last.
Additions i'd make: you are lacking anti-tank and ranged power. i would take the missle guys from you tac squads and form a dev squad with 4 missle guys if you have them. this gives you some ranged support for your assualt troops and some anti-tank which you need. the missle launchers also can be used for anti-horde.
hope that helps
