Where We Will be Fighting, and Objectives

The Battle for Medusa V is spread across one continent (it appears the Iron Hands only had time to conquer one), which is divided into several Battle Zones. The continet (displayed on my map) also containts several hive cities and sybillases.

    There are 4 critical locations:

Hive Euryales: This is the capital, and it is in open revolt. It must not fall and is a crictcal objective.

The Mission: Home to promethium production (what Medusa V is used for I belive), currently Loyal, and must not fall to the enemy as it is a critical location.

Monastery of Madrigales: Home of the Astropathic Choir, Loyal, critical location. Note All Ordo Malleus Servants are to defend this location so make sure you keep an eye out if you need to, GK Players. However, still sign up with Forger, he'll be able to better direct you to fight for the Monastery, and he might be able to back you up too.

Deimos Spaceport: Allows evacuation and reserves to be brought to Medusa V, this is critical, especially to the IG operation. Without it, evacuation and reserves cannot happen.

    ----Imperial Aims----
Medusa V will be lost to Van Grothe's Warp Storm. However, there are several aims each Imperial Force must complete.

Imperial Guard: Their aim is to not let the planet fall to the enemeis of the Emperor, and to ensure that the majority of the Civilian Population can be ecvacuated safely. Hounour!

Space Marines:Their aim is to stop the Chaos forces, however I suggest those of you fighting under Forger stay where you are, and do what he says. He will better be able to direct you against Chaos foes where it counts. Death!

The Inqusition: Apart from the afor mentioned Ordo Mallues notice, there is no stated aim for the =][=. I myself will try too follow Forger's commands, and do my bit. I will probabley face off against The Necrons the most, just to let you know Forger.

    --------------------------------

    This Inqusitor's 2c
I think that though we each have "seperate" aims, if we maintain a collected command chain, and stay/stick together, and follow ordrers our objectives will be more easily completed, better than running around like a headless tyranid. So don't run off, or I'll purge you. Staying together now and organising correctly is where it counts. And no bickering. Stick together.

    ------------------------------

    ---Other Race's Aims---

Necrons: The Necrons are attempting to build so many Plylons, that when the Warp Storm surrounds Medsua V, it will not destroy it/taint it. This will allow the Necrons to feed on the population in peace. --- This is not good, but it doesn't have terrible repercusions either.

Eldar: The Eldar are attemping to close an open Webway Portal to Altaioc Craftworld, and stop Chaos. --- This is not too seirious, but watch these Xenos, they are disturbingly tricky.

Tyranids: The 'Nids want to reabsorb the Death Leaper Genus back to the Hive Ships. If they do we get Vanguard Organisims (Lictors and Genestealers) with 2+ Covers Saves, and other nasties. --- This is very seirious. The Tyranids must not be allowed to do this.

Tau: The Tau are trying to research Warp technology, so they can obtain Warp Travel. --- This also seirious. If the Tau get Warp Travel, the whole of the Eastern Fringe would be threatened.

Chaos: To take over the World, slaying as many as possible. If they do, then One of Abbadon's Chosen Sorcerors, Ygethmor, will become a Deamon Prince. --- Not good, it makes Chaos even more powerful, and that is always a bad thing.

Dark Eldar: To capture as many slaves as possible. --- Not a pleasent objective, and it could hinder us, if they strike when we least need/expect it. Be wary.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Biggest Threats to the Imperium Of Man
[As analzed by Cpt. Silver Wings]
Hmm, time for some threat assesments. Who is the biggest threat to the Imperium?

    1) Chaos.
Ygethmor must be stopped at all costs, a Daemon-Prince Sorceror with the power of a sacrifice of Billions is not a desirable outcome. Evacuating the populace to Deimos Spaceport will be challenging, some of the southern Hive's lie hundreds of miles away.

    2) Necrons.
They are in a position to take the planet for keeps. Harvesting an entire population would do them no end of good. Personaly I recomend Lance strikes from orbit against their xenos constructions.

    3) Tyranids.
As mentoned in another thread Genestealers with +2 to thier cover saves would not be pleasant. Kill teams armed with flamers should be dispatched after any rumour of a Death Leaper. Please ensure total incineration of the corpse, Tyranids may be able to reabsorb it's DNA even if it's dead.

The others are of much lesser threat.

The Tau will be unlikely to launch major Anti-Imperial offensives. Them gaining advanced warp travel would be bad for us. However the warpis a fickle mistress, the laws of this universe do not apply attempting to gain information from it may be a fools errand. How did they come to be on Medusa? requires Inquisitorial scrutiny.

Dark Eldar are not capable of launching attacks on vigilant, well prepared hives maned by stalwart warriors. All previous contact with them shows them as opportunistic raiders. If the time comes then refugee convoys could be at seroius risk. Why have the DE chosen to attack such a heavily defended world anyway? local systems have been depleted of troops to protect Medusa, silly xenos.

Orks (you forgot them Yossanrion) They will be launching raids against the north eastern battlezones to gain technology, let none get into thier hands and Nazdreg will be locked on a world not long for this universe.

Eldar. The Eldar wish to gain control of one webway portal, if resources are thin stopping them is a low priority. I believe that Warseer has already discussed a non-agression pact with them.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Making Results Count
Two Registered Armies (you register on the webiste) fight, and the then winner posts his or hers result on the website. This means you can fight battles at home, or at the store, or any where. Forger will tel you where to attribute your victories, thus giving a cohesive overall strategy. It is imperitive that we all obey him in order ro make this campaign work.

However you cannot register untill the 21st of June and the campaign starts on the 5-7th of July.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

News for all our Northern Euorpean Allies:
I found this on the Netherlands Webiste (Emperor Bless em for being in english): http://ne.games-workshop.com/news/sfm/

    An exerpt from the site:
    How Does it Work?
You can sign up for Strikeforce Medusa and begin building your army for the Medusa V campaign in all Games Workshop Retail Stores throughout Northern Europe and many of our Independent Stockists (check your local store for more information).

Once you have signed up and collected your Strikeforce Medusa Tracker Card (Shown to the right) it's really simple to build up your force step by step. Once the force is complete you should be ready to make planetfall on Medusa V!

It gives you a downloadable PDF Card for your "Medusa V Strike Force" , and also contains several showcases of a few gamers HQ models. So if your in Northen Euorpe get cracking on what exactly this is, it could help us out. If I find out more I'll let you know.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Special Considerations
I was re-reading my Medusa V booklet lastnight and 4 details caught my eye:

Regarding Death Leapers:"There is at least one Leaper Per Hive".
This implies that there are not many leapers, and that if we hold the Hives the Tyranids will have a hard time trying to get thier precious DNA. I've been reading a few of the Tyranid tactics that seem to be surfacing, and it appears the wish to draw us out of our Hives, and and then take the Hives in one large storm, towards the End of the Campaign. Also it appears the Necrons will be fighting against the Tyranids direclty (again this is gleand from our enemies information), as the need the souls of those the Tyranids eat.

Regarding the Chaos Objective: "Atop a pillar of cadavers, heaped upon the ruins of the Cathedral of Hive Euryales a ritual of inconceivable power must be enacted."
This implies that Chaos need to take the Capital Hive in order to complete thier aims. If we hold it, we may well thrwat them. However, the Hive is currnetly in a state of rebellion, a infintly worrying turn of events.

Regarding the Necrons: "Known to the Eldar as "The Herlad of the Storm" in times now forgotten his Necron Lord is an archeticect of the Great Work and foremongst amongst the servants of the C'tan."
It would appear a powerfull Necron lord has risen. This Inqusitor puts forward that it will be significantly more powerfull than a normal necron lord, and as part of the Great Work, this is very seirious indeed.

Regarding the Orks: Nazdreg will be caught on Medusa V. As Cpt. Silver Wings pointed out, this is an oppurtinty not to be missed in the slightest.

    http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35450

Our enemies on LO seem to be realtivley unorganised.
These threads exist about fighting, but none are really a threat. However, the Necrons seem to be getting more organised.
    Necrons http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...call-ctan.html

    Dark Eldar http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...-medusa-v.html

    Tyranids http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...actical-2.html

As you can see the Imperium is getting ahead of its Foes. The Emperor is with us! Onward ito the breach!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    No Aggression Pacts with Xenos
I've caught word on a non-aggression pact with the Eldar - as distasteful as it is, it seems like a good idea. We really don't need to fight each other, and it would be bad for both of us to slog it out.

I don't know about the Tau, their objective at the moment seems to be (also according to WD) to hold us off with diplomacy, and then attack when needed/keep collecting the information.

I would rate a high chance of non-agression with the Eldar, a low change with the Tau, and Necrons being as fickle as they always are. Dark Eldar, Tyranids and Orks will be against us mostly I am presuming.

So its safe to say that Chaos, Tau and Tyranids are the main threats and should be given top priority. I will cleanse the foul servants of chaos and any others in my way.

Some enemies are more interesting than others

Dark Eldars: Their mistress wants a great number of slaves to enlarge her powerbase at Commoragh and start a civil war to topple Asdrubael Vect. They don't care if their slaves are faithful imperial citizens or foul traitors or xenos. I would like them to succeed, we could convince them that xenos bases are less defended than our hives, threaten a mass attack against their slave pens if they bother us, or give them our P.O.W. in exchange for captured citizens.

Necron: We don't know how their null shield works yet. If it creates a physical barrier, i.e. our ship can't leave the planet, they are a major threat. If the shield is just a big gellar field keeping out the warp we will be out of medusa system before the warpstorm hits, and the ones trapped on the planet with necrons will be the chaos forces.

Also, Inquisitor Lord Yossanrion. The foul Chaos sorceror who is leading the forces of chaos is the very same one that managed to have an entire system of planets to all commit suicide all at once. This is something that caused the Emperor great pain, and if the Emperor grants my plea. The 75th Rahaxin Legionaries would greatly appreciate assistance in the form of an Reputable Inquisitor Lord so that if we run afoul the Chaos forces, we may better dispatch them with the wrath of the Imperium.

May the Dice Gods bless our rolls, and may the Emperor grant us a victory for the Imperium!::raises fist as the Dice Gods Commissar::

Hmm, a nice idea let our enemies kill one another.

However the DE are likely to prefer helpless Imperial civilians than "trained" and armed chaos cultists so as desirable as that outcome may be....

I would advise letting the Astartes contingent deal with Ygethmor, but that is a decision for the Lt. Colonel.

Very good work Librarian. The Emperor will be pleased with your work. Now thanks to that we can watch the moves of the enemy and where to counter. Let the Emperor grant us the victory that rightly belongs to us. And may the powerful forces of the Emperor banish the foul soldiers of the Great Enemy! Strenght to the Emperor!
