When the new cityfight rules comeout (cities of death) my and a group of friends are going to start a cityfight campaign, the only problem is, i don't really know what i'm doing as far as cityfight is concerned......
1: Doctrines, i'm thinking of light infantry and camoleoline but after that i'm stuck....
2: Tactics, everyone seems to be taking MEQ combat armies, were talking GK's, Khorne, combat iron warriors (wierd or what), black templars. I'm not alltogether sure how to deal with these guys in dense terrain??
3: Details, my army consists of entirely infantry, and i was hoping not to have to buy anything new, i have 3 40 man platoons (3 squads and a 5 man remnant squad), 3 veteran squads, 3 mortar squads, 3 Heavy bolter squads, 3 missile launcher squads, and i think most of the games are going to be around 1500pts.....
Any and all help is appreciated!!
Inquistion force WIP. Pics on posts 17 and 23.
Are you shure you don't want a demolisher or a basilisk, because they rock in cityfight.
Well ,as far as doctrines are concerend, the two you did choose are good, though you have forgotten to list veterans, as you take more than 0-1 squad. so this leaves you with 2 doctrines. consider iron disciplin or chem inhalers for moral and rough riders (i'd definately take those, as they profit alot from cover and can deal with cc nasties.
what about a special weapon team? the meltas would be usefull against MEQ
also lots of template weapons that negate cover saves, its a pity you havent got a hellhound as they are usefull in dense terrain.
if you stick with what you have youve got plenty of troops to set up fields of fire etc- just take good use of the cover, try and funnel the enemy towards your heavy weapons and take them out before you have to get into CC!

Yeah Flamers aren't bad in City fight (template weapons)...
With LI you could go with Snipers as an option rather than a HW in that squad because of straightforward rules to hit and wound regardless of armor type.
Also look to maybe get a chimera or two as they can help with LOS screenings for your troops.
