i have only ever played with the 4th edition rules and guard codex and hear some of you talking about the good old days when you could take Vanquishers and exterminators and Commissars were better and you could put them were you wanted
are thing better now or did you have more fun or think the guard were are better army back then? (not more powerful just better the way there were)
what i said up there is just about all i know about how things were so can you clue me in
When I first started I played ork but that was say 10 years ago well before the orks got things like wartrukks and the like. What I little knew about IG was that they were like less powerful Space marines and could shoot me down simply because they had so many guns. While I couldn't hit the broad side of barn with my lobbas and rokkit launchers.
we can do better then one post cant we?
I've seen pictures and read background, and the original guard seem to have been awesome with much plasma ness and awesoome characters like Solaar Machiasus destroying all in his path. However this is all hearsay and conjecture.
No, I like the latest codex (Actually came out late 3rd ed). The use of traits gives guard cohesion and flavour whilst allowing a lot of different armies
Vanquishers/Conquerors etc can all be included in IG armies IF you have IA1
Everything you have been told is a lie!
new guard are better i think. the models are better, and i prefer the doctrine system despite needing an update. however the whole thing about leman russ exterminators etc not being in the codex. quite simply, GW are lazy not add an extra page or two to the codex.
